You've Been Playing the Prepatch Event Incorrectly (And so have I!)

I had an epiphany last night;

Once you’ve assembled the Heirloom Ring, there’s absolutely NO REASON to continue doing the pre-patch event on a single character.

  • Log your alt and do the three weekly quests. Get that easy 4500 warband currency from the quests.
  • Log the next alt and repeat.
  • ???
  • Move that warband currency around as much as you like to buy whatever you want.
  • Profit.

If you don’t care about the heirloom, then you can go about profiting way faster.

Happy collecting, guys!

You don’t even need to farm the Heirloom ring on one character. The bits are all warbound. Do exactly as you’re saying, toss the items in your warbank and move to the next alt!

For extra fun, hit up the nearby Raids Naxx, Ony,MC/BWL when you’re done with a zone. Kills some time and get some TMOG. Naxx particularly has been nice since the tier tokens are warbound now. (Saddly, Classic Raids don’t use tokens for teir gear. )

Whaaaat!? I didn’t even realize! I wasted SO much time!!

I’d add that if you have a ton of alts, prioritize doing at least one event on each before you try to do all three on a character. The weekly quest piece is a guaranteed piece of loot that you only get on the first event you do.

So you’re saying you log in, play one character for 4.5 hours (90 mins x 3) with only ~5 mins of gameplay every 90 mins, then go to the next?
What a waste of time.

No, you log into a character every 90 minutes for 5 minutes and then go run errands or play Remix.

The issue is many people have a set time to play everyday. So if I have 4 hours a day to play. I can only do the 90 minute event twice. Leaving me to grind which is super boring.

Yeah because the event is horrible and only had 5 mins of content 8 times a day lmao

I fixed it for you!

I wasn’t defending the event, just giving a tip to improve efficiency. Which was what the OP was doing. It’s okay to try and help your fellow players out even when Blizz misses the mark.

Bookmarking this for one of the worst takes I have seen for a while.

If I’m interpreting OP correctly, you can do the event/weeklies as many times as you want by hopping between different alts.

If that’s the case, then I don’t see what’s stopping you from playing on all of your alts in the time you have to play. You have a week to clear all three quests, so it’s not essential you get all three done in a single session on one character.

So just do the 3 events when the daily quest is up for all areas? Rinse repeat each char?

I genuinely wanted the ring and I just assembled it before shutdown so I’m grateful about that.

I do want to level the same character though and I don’t feel like questing normally, but I’m 1 - 30 in two days for event alone so maybe I should cycle through like you say. Should be 70 by last week right?

So…kill boss with alt 1, then in 90 minutes log in with alt 2, kill the same boss, then in 90s minutes log in with alt 3 and kill the same boss, rinse and repeat with alts, and the 3 different bosses until you’ve gone through your alts for the week?
Kind of annoying, but better than just trying to do it all on one character I suppose. What a goofy event, lol.

I have 15 or so level 70 alts and many more little tiny ones.

I’ve done all 3 weeklies on one toon and done it a couple more time on a few more toons. The issue is that I don’t have time to wait. I woke up today and got the first one I could grab. But then the second one 90 mins later was when I had to be walking out the door. Likely tonight I’ll only be able to grab 1-2 before going to bed.

I’ve gotten roughly just under 10,000 of the currency.

Next week (or hopefully today after the down time…) when its a faster spawn I should be able to grab it a few more times.

And I basically plan to camp it this weekend.

But yeah - like every 1.5 min is super annoying for my schedule. Every hour would have been amazing personally

Yes, the only thing you gotta do is kill the boss. You’re actually spending quite little time in the event. However

  1. 1hr30m is way too long for 7 minute of play.
  1. Because of 1, it’s way too easy to miss.
  2. If you login out of cycle, you have to use alts. Then you gotta use previous characters and you create a tracking nightmare.

For something taking so little time, this is just unfun.

I imagine the timer is merely for leveling purposes.

Blizzard probably doesn’t want people blitzing to 70 in under 2 hours.

But you can blitz to 70 in 1 hour on MoP Remix right now. And in retail you can get there in about 3 hours currently.

2 hours sounds like a happy middle lol

I don’t know anything about retail leveling times (3 hours seems too short unless there’s some sort of exploit I’m unaware of) but the tradeoff with MoP Remix is that those characters are currently stuck on that server. They can’t leave it until the end of August when the expansion starts.

Why are you wasting time doing nothing? Park a character at the next event and go do something else.
