Lies. You’ve put the mobs everywhere now.
Tbh, being grounded wouldn’t be half as annoying if this were still true.

I thought about that recently, too. They designed them to be everywhere you can run and now that players find ways around that with gliders/waterstriders, they are nerfing the striders and inevitably the gliders.
But yeah, it looks ridiculous to have that “tip” when you’re probably MORE likely to encounter mobs on roads.
they seem to do this in areas they want to feel less civilized or abandoned now. It used to be a pretty hard fast rule before Legion.
BFA zones are literally the worst. They feel cramped, tiny, and are unintuitive when it comes to navigating.
Note, Blizz, you can make a zone perilous and challenging without it being unintuitively difficult to navigate.
It’s not a lie…
It just so happens that a lot of the place we go that are connected by roads happen to be overrun by enemies. But otherwise you’re less likely to be harassed by monsters if you’re traveling a path than you would be if you try to cut straight through a forest or something.
They aren’t even perilous or challenging. Even with a leveling character without good gear, these enemies aren’t a threat. They can’t realistically kill you, they’re just speedbumps that daze you off your mount and force you to swat them down before you can continue.
they got stupid. FTFY
We know that’s what ya meant anyway.
Semper Fi! ![]()
I enjoy the fact that your icon is literally just the inside of the barrel of your gun.
To be fair, those “tips” were added 230 years ago.
Uhh, I’ll have you know it was 84 years ago!
/me imitates Thalyssra “No one has touched these tips in TEN THOUSAND YEARS!!”
When I first saw it, I thought “shoot!” Now I just find it boring.
Do I need a better calibre of jokes?
Now? They’ve always been everywhere. STV was (and still is) one of the worst offenders. It was never safe to AFK on the roads there.
It wouldn’t be nearly as good if you had a different name. ![]()
Lies. You’ve put the mobs everywhere now.
I disagree. It is not a lie.
[You’re much less likely to encounter wandering monsters while following a road.”]
It does not say “you will encounter ZERO mobs if you stay on a road”.
It doesn’t say that. it does not imply that. It says “less”.
By now I am sure that I’ve been on every “road” in the 6 BFA zones. Of course I sometimes have to avoid a mob (like the giant T-Rex in western Nazmir). But not often. I can’t remember the last time I was dismounted and forced to fight mobs, while on a road.
I don’t only play the “latest expansion”. Every year I level up 3 or more new characters from 1/20. I follow the “road” guidance in every zone, and it works well.
STV was (and still is) one of the worst offenders. It was never safe to AFK on the roads there.
Good old Stranglethorn Vale. I remember travelling to Booty Bay, on a low-level character. So low that EVERY mob in the whole 2 zones could single-shot me. Level 5, or 10. I did that 4 or 5 times, on 4 or 5 characters.
I covered the entire 2 zones (20 minutes of running) on the road. There was one (count them, one) mob that I encountered on that run. Once I got past that one mob (which may have involved dying and running back) I did the rest of the run safely…
…by staying on the road.
Well technically its not a lie…
the roads were fine… until the horde attacked.
It’s a tip from 15 years ago that I believe was never updated.
Cataclysm ruined a lot of things.
It was only ever a thing until you reached Stranglethorn. After that, not so much.
One of the 1st things I learned upon reaching Pandaria (I started at the tail end of MoP) was that Tigers ignore this tip and will leap across the entire continent to pile upon unsuspecting hunters on the road and kill them.
