- If your character’s race or faction cosmetically changes (such as in Battle of Dazar’alor or Mercenary Mode), any Horde or Alliance-centric armor and weapon appearances your character is wearing or has transmogrified to will update to appear as the enemy faction’s version. If you have a transmogrified appearance that isn’t considered valid for the race you change in to, the transmog will be removed and your equipped armor will show, subject to the same faction split.
What? You’re going to remove or change my carefully-constructed and beautifully coordinated outfits because of a temporary cosmetic display? Why does this need to be a thing? Why can’t I wear the appearance of Horde-specific items while I am wearing the guise of an Alliance race? What part of the game does my wardrobe choices break, that you need to have me walking around in a hot mess by messing with my transmog?
Can we at least get a tool tip warning on those items you would strip us of, that I can blacklist those things in my UI, so that I never, ever get caught out in a mishmash outfit anywhere? Just a “This item will change appearance, based on your current activity” will do.
I will legit just never wear some piece of armor again, over having it changed on me even temporarily, resulting in my having an uncoordinated outfit for any amount of time. I don’t even equip upgrades until I can get on my transmog mount and fix my outfit.
Please don’t mess with my transmog.

Does this apply only in instanced areas that does this or is it game wide to include any toys or consumables that have the same effect?

They’re no longer charging for transmog then… correct?? If I’m reading that correctly they are removing your transmog if it violates stuff that isn’t available cross faction?

So basically my shoulders will clash with my armor during the other sides story. Meh w/e as long as it’s back to normal when I’m done idc.

I certainly hope this is only temporary during the transformation, otherwise it really is a crapshow waiting to happen.

This is the first time ever I have legit been horrified by a patch note.

wait… is OP serious? I thought this was a sarcastic joke rant

Exactly lol, but was refreshing from hearing actual issues with BFA and 8.1
Lull I feel like this is just trying to hard to keep your forum persona intact.
I wonder if this affects the coin of deception…
I also wonder if this affects Pandaren players. Still, this is a stupid change for change’s sake that doesn’t really serve any purpose other than to overly control everything.

I’m… not really seeing the problem? It changes. Temporarily. It doesn’t permanently remove or change transmogs. Just for as long as you’re playing as the opposing faction.

I don’t joke about transmog. I’m super serious.
Any class changes, nerfs to professions, xp, gameplay, whatever… I’ll deal with it.
Just don’t touch my outfits.
I will not be walking around looking like a hot mess in an uncoordinated outfit. That’s just going too far.

This seems really unnecessary and a terrible choice on their end.

Half the raid is a flashback scenario where you play as an Alliance/Horde member in the battle. You don’t think it odd that a Draenei decided to take part in the invasion wearing full Honorbound colours?

I’d find it odder if half my raid suddenly lost the ability to match their armor properly, looking as if they got dressed by blindly rummaging around in the dark.

Ugh, so what I’m hearing is that I’ll need to make sure that no toon I’m planning to take into Dazal’alor should be wearing faction-specific transmog?
Great, I’ll just be over here trying to build two whole new sets (one for each raiding toon) JUST so I don’t have to feel uncoordinated during the faction-change mechanic. Because I’m assuming these rules also apply to heritage armor.
And to top it off, I’ll have to make sure whatever sets I come up with actually look good on any model that my classes can be so I don’t end up looking ridiculous.

But that’s just it. They aren’t your raid, they’re random shlubs from the Alliance. Look at it as getting to take comfort in the knowledge that, on top of being the bad guys, they have terrible fashion sense.
