Ever since the start of Dragonflight this will pop up from the background and freeze the game up. I did a hard restart each time to get out of it. I have uninstall the game and kept the add-on up to date. Game settings is at an 8.

Anyone else having this problem and how do you fix it?
Your system has run out of application memory
Battle.net. 187.9MB
Safari 57.4 MB
WOW 62.27 GB
Finder 41.5 MB
the game will be running fine with no lag on out of the blue this will happen
everything else is running fine. This. just happens when playing WOW
It is stongly recommended you revert to Monterey for your OS. You’ll avoid the nasty problems found with Ventura, incuding the memory leak. You’ll also avoid the plethora of other issues Ventura brings with it when it comes to WoW.

Pretty much that, metal 2 leaks memory on ventura, something apple missed because they can’t be bothered with macs that can’t run metal 3, or even macs that aren’t apple silicon at this point. They really only focus on software fixes for what they deem current macs. It’s one of things i hate about apple vs MS. I wouldn’t count on the Metal 2 memory leak on Ventura to be fixed unless it got significant press.
My recommendation on these forums has been that if mac isn’t listed in metal 3 specs, avoid ventura forever.

LOL! Patch 10.0.5 made WoW unbootable unless I upgraded to Ventura… and now that I have the game keeps freezing from running out of system memory (also ~62GB).
Meanwhile the PC-playing boot lickers keep dumping on anyone who suggests something’s not right with the game.
I definitely warned numerous times metal 2 has memory leak on ventura, sounds like you’re hitting it.
You didn’t have to upgrade to ventura. It was also posted numerous times that the issue with wow starting up on older OS would be fixed (and it was).
Blizzard can’t fix this particular memory leak since it’s not application module memory. it seems to be specifically in metal 2 driver somewhere. I did a ton of debug with blizzards internal memory profile they added and so did they. I also doubt apple will fix it cause bugs with intel macs is very low priority for them. It’d probably be better to go back to macOS version you were on before.
Cool. I was wondering if Blizz did fix it. Now I gotta do the OS downgrade, but since Im an old man now… gotta YouTube that sh*t.
WoW Blizz, I know you guys are doing your best, but that patch caused some major disruption. And if y’all already knew about the leak, then really not-cool to push out the patch if you had a sense there was gonna be an issue with Mac OS.
The memory leak is happening in both monetary & Ventura. I doubt this ever gets fixed.
if it requires apple fixing something in metal 2 driver, probably not no. Their support for non apple silicon at this point is next to 0. It’s one of reasons I just sucked it up and got a thunderbolt dock, hooked my screens to it instead of my desktop, and use macbook pro exclusively. the issues with amd driver were just too annoying for me, and I didn’t even have memory leaks, just had my 4k screans capped at 60hz cause i found out the AMD driver doesn’t support display port 1.4, so it caps speed to 1.2 speeds even on AMD 6x00 cards with 1.4, translation, a 4k screen doesn’t have enough bandwidth to be 120hz, but same screen on macbook pro can run 160hz and even variable refresh rate no problem…
could apple fix this? yes. apparently the driver just needs two lines patched (and it’s doable by hacks) but my decision was just to give up trying to hack thing after thing after thing on a 2018 machine and just accept that apple wants me to run a 2020 or newer machine, period (mine is a late 2021 M1 max MBP)
