Someone’s private sandbox or a LH server or something else? The last time I leveled a gnome in Dun Morogh on Northdale, back around January of this year, I incorrectly spawned in the Coldridge Valley graveyard. Twice.
There are several different servers out there and they are regularly bug fixed and what-not. None of them are perfect. Far from it.
As I said, YMMV.
Right–that’s why I was curious where you played. It was a conversational question, not a confrontational one. But you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.
Edit: I see now, “cmangos server build”. Nvm.
Private servers aren’t correct and really, Classic isn’t either.
We will never see Vanilla WoW again, but this is the best we’ll get. Frankly I’m glad anyway because private servers are janky as heck.
No, but Joana’s fully documented 1-60 is correct.
Sorry to disappoint you, but the beta is heavily flawed atm.
I didn’t take it as confrontation. If I had, I would have either ignored or made light of you .
Yeah, I only went on a pserver after classic was announced to see if it was nostalgia talking or if I truly missed it. (I truly missed it) I bailed shortly thereafter because the gold seller nonsense and I wasn’t about to invest a lot of time into something that could suddenly go poof and disappear. After that, I just downloaded the server code, slapped a Linux box together and set one up for me and a few friends to goof with until the real thing hits.
I am under NO illusions that these things are accurate. Nor are the developers for that matter.
No one is saying this.
Classic is doing things that the original game did not.
Private servers are fake news.
I still see comments pointing out everything “wrong” with the beta.
Yeah… I just write it off if it isn’t an obvious bug…
Unfortunately its not clear cut. Classic too is not “how it really was”, its already been revealed there are intentional things that have made it in (like the physics of grass) to make the experience more immersive.
Classic is 1.12 client (which is the last patch right before the pre-xpac where everything is at its most nerfed state), ported to run with modern servers meaning a lot of data transformation, updates and processing changes along with new support systems added.
There is an internal 1.12 reference client but that will not mimc for example what the play experience was like in vanilla accounting for client/server lag with decades old internet.
