Your new auto report feature is terribad

  1. I thought I read that this thing wouldn’t flag conversations with people on your friends list?

  2. Abbreviations like “bf” and “idk” are not slurs, yet get flagged.

  3. There are about a thousand very normal words that can be also used as a slur, but usually aren’t and wholly depend on context. Your tool is apparently context unaware which makes it useless for many words. A sentence containing the words “Mexican rice” was flagged, but sentences with “French toast” and “Colombian coffee” were not.

  4. Gender identity and sexual orientation terms? All flagged. The sentence “I love gay people”? Flagged.

At minimum this should be turned off for friends-list conversations. It’s too intrusive and frankly…too dumb…to exist in these interactions.

the real lesson here?
This game ISNT a social game anymore, so dont bother talking to anyone, ever…for any reason.
problem literally solved

I didnt know they had an auto report feature, but now it makes sense why I saw a random ticket saying thanks for the report and I thought “what the? I didnt report anyone.”

This… is comedy gold.

So it flags everything?

Could you imagine being told your job will be going over reports for offensive language, be told “it’s usually just 100 reports all day”
accepting the job…
arriving…
opening your email and seeing (Inbox 12003)
All because the automated system went nuts.

…What auto report feature? I haven’t seen anything relating to this.

Do you mean receiving a warning? You can get a warning just because you got a surge of reports in a short amount of time. That doesn’t mean action was taken against your account.

First time I checked mine yesterday it was default set to “no one,” which means it’s censoring nothing. The user can then increase the level of censoring they want.

Edit - I don’t think it’s an auto-report as much as an auto-censor. Unless we’re talking about different things?

I had that happen the other day… and I was afk.

I left to go make a taste adult beverage.
Come back to “thank you for your report”

I was like… so my house is haunted.

Next On Ghost Hunters: Things go bump in the night at Gutshredda Castle. Will the team get to the bottom of it or… will they be reported into the Afterlife!

Yeah I thought WoW was bugged out or something, now I did only notice it when I was playing a classic hardcore character so maybe that’s why it happened.

I have a strong feeling that they are trying out AI in an attempt to reduce support staff even further.

Auto-reported and auto-actioned, unseen by human eyes.

Lmao… this ^^^^

It stopped being a social game a while ago, to access the same social aspect as the og days you’re basically “required” to use 3rd party programs like Discord (whereas in the old days the social aspect was just “built-in” to the game)

Especially when you can only post like once every 30 second in the global channels…
Can’t exactly have a conversation then with multiple people unless you have the patience to condense every damn reply into an essay.

Auto report.

In some cases you have an opportunity to “stop” the report, but if you are AFK and someone whispers you something that’s flagged, they will be reported by “you”.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize that’s a thing. Is there a way to adjust it in options?

I’d swear they said this wouldn’t apply to friends list convos, but I can’t find the post.

We played with it for a while last nite and the results were pretty scary.

I forgot about that, but yeah

Interestingly, the copy/pasta “RMT” sellers and advertisers seem somehow exempt from that “restriction”

Very common to see something like this in major trade chat channels:

Somehow, the RMT/boost spammers are either exempt to the “one message every 30 seconds” rule or have found a way around it

They also seem “immune” to silences and bans, apparently lol… you get the “thanks for reporting! action was taken because of your reports” notification… yet you see the same exact (literally same name/server) RMT copy-pasta bot still spamming away days/weeks later :man_facepalming:

But lord help you, as a real-life human being player, if you “offend” someone in a major chat channel… it’s pretty much an insta-ban or insta-silence

Wait you think these are reviewed by a human? LOL, that’s rich.

Legion I had a blast running with other players. Use to spend all day here…like 8-12 hours PER day, running dungeons all day.
Something went wrong in BFA. I noticed vote kicks a lot more. People cussing tanks out for petty crap. Trying to kick healers when everyones health bar was literally topped off the entire run. DPS out of control.

I dont know if it was worse before Legion since thats when I started the game. All I know is thru BFA I just gave up on running group stuff much because the behavior in 5 mans and BGs had turned to crap in so many cases that it just wasnt worth it anymore.

Back in Legion I was leveling a character and we got called into Blackrock Depths. My absolute favorite dungeon in this game.
Tank says hes been away for a couple years so be patient.
Best run Ive ever had.
We decided to do a full clear for craps and giggles.
About half way thru we just stopped and talked for like 20 minutes, then finished up the dungeon.
No cursing about a wrong turn. No baby tantrum tossing over some petty crap. Just 5 players actually ENJOYING the game.

Feels like that is never going to be a thing again.

That dept is on Sublevel 7.

Anything so they don’t have to pay human beings to do the work.
