What was it, where did you buy it from, and did you get it on sale?
Bonus question: which online retailer do you find yourself buying from most often for PC related stuff?

I bought a 4TB SSD last week to replace my 4TB HDD when CrystalDiskInfo cautioned me about my sector relocation passing the threshold.
I got the one by Crucial on sale for $250. I usually shop from BestBuy first, since I have one nearby and can price match against competing retailers online. If I can’t something from there I move to Amazon next since they have a DC warehouse just 20 mins away, so everything is near-instant delivery. I also shop at NewEgg, MicroCenter (online) and B&H Photo.
M.2? Sweet upgrade either way.
Just did it this week. The rebuild starts this weekend
Actually just picked up new parts
It started with just the GPU and CPU purchase. I basically got it on sale yes. Got the 4080 AMP Extreme AIRO and Ryzen 9 7900x for $1400 for both on Facebook Marketplace. Was too good a deal to pass up.
Sad world we live in when thats considered a deal eh? I remember when graphics cards were 300$
Now you’ve made me drool and slobber all over myself looking at all these glorious items.
Did you just decide to build a dream system or what?
I was browsing facebook marketplace just checking current prices when I saw that deal mentioned above. Messaged the guy and bought it. I knew it wouldnt last long. Not at that price. Heck If you want to say I got the CPU at MSRP then I basically got the 4080 for the price of a 4070 Ti
Then I decided to finish what I started and build my dream system
I can only imagine how stoked you must be feeling about now. That’s going to be one certified amazeballs rig. Post a full write up about it with benchmarks and lots of pics when you’re done?
Just bought a new case since I am starting a build using some leftover parts I had:
Corsair 4000D
I have a Microcenter very close to me and since it’s so easy I prefer to walk in and buy vs do over the internet unless there is a NEED to order online - BTW I am only this way with computer stuff
Sure. Im basically doing a platform upgrade since I am on the 5900x with a 3080 now
I’m jelly. I’m like 200 miles from the closest one.
My Plan is to sell my old parts on Facebook. So selling RoG x570 Dark Hero + 5900x should bring me around $650-700 for both if I sell them as a combo. The 3080 should bring me another 500ish? I still have all the boxes so they will get sold used but like new.
I should come out of this ordeal having spent very little on my upgrade was my thought process. Especially with the deal I got on the new CPU and graphics card
I’m a box hoarder too! I like keeping my stuff nice and when it’s time to resell something, it helps.
It’s SATA; both of my M.2 slots are already used up. It’s fine though - the drive is mainly for apps and games where the speed of the M.2 is very trivial.
Kingston KC3000 2TB was my latest at $200 from outside USA. Speedy load times.
Used 3080 Founders Edition. The miner seems knowledgable enough about repadding and undervolting so I’ll take my chances.
EVGA 3080 XC3 just runs a bit too warm even when its UV (silly evga fans) and my 6800xt reference junction temp peaks 100c even though the edge temp barely hits 70c haven’t found the time to repaste/repad the card yet.
The curses of trying to aircool in an itx case (FormD T1)
bought the AM5 hype:
ryzen 7 7700x
B650 mobo
32gb ddr5 6000
pcie 4x4 for both os drive and game drive
i like it
13700KF
MSI Z690 Edge Wifi
32GB G. Skill S5 6000 CL32
various vendors
wasn’t really on sale
amazon is my go to because of convenience
How are you liking this particular board? Is the wifi 6 reliable? I’ve been hit and miss with MSI, but mostly hit.
First performance oriented MSI motherboard; I usually get Gigabyte.
It works well. I managed a 5.7ghz all P-core OC, but I turned it off. Thermals are good. No throttling. Wifi6 seems stable. I play on it all the time.
Cheap 500gig SSD for my aunt’s old laptop that’s still using a HDD. For my PC it would be the 6750xt.
