Remember when we were younger how there were Christmas Specials on? Well I wanted to share one of my personal favorites for the holiday season. If you have one feel free to link it as well! I hope that this puts you in a festive spirit. Shine on you crazy murder hobos. Shine on.
Bumping it once for max visibility since it is Christmas Eve. Also dropping another holiday classic!
(One that would also probably get me banned if I was sharing it over on The Old Republic Forums. >:) )
I never cared for those particular Christmas movies, those were more my mom’s favorites. I much prefer A Christmas Story and the most recent A Christmas Story Christmas. I was super excited to see Peter Billingsly reprise his role as Ralphie (all grown up).
It was a different time where holidays meant that claymation was what was on TV or variety song and dance shows.
I just thought they were boring as a kid.
I get it, and they kinda were boring. At the time we had ABC, CBS, NBC, & PBS to choose from.
Yeah that doesn’t leave a lot of options.
Right?
We could always use our:
One of my favs was a christmas episode Hey Arnold had. That was a tear jerker when I was a kid.
The original Grinch and of course the Charlie Brown xmas special.
This one really brought me back to being a kid. My siblings and I used to watch it with my mom (my dad never really cared for it but he’d usually go to bed early due to getting up super early for work anyway)… they played this each year around Christmas along with the usual Christmas shows. That was way back in the 80s whew forty years. I’m getting old.
Merry Christmas and thanks for sparking good memories.
Mine was always a Year Without a Santa Clause.
The American Dad Christmas episode where it goes into the future, and Francine is with Jesus, and Stan dies fighting the Anti Christ is memorable. It was like an action movie.
Two minutes in and I noped out of it.
I watched the Star Wars Holiday Special when it aired (the one and only time it aired).
Our parents made us change the channel for the last 10 minutes, though, so they could watch something else. My brother and I howled in protest, but they just kept saying “It will be on again next year, you can see the ending then.”
Twenty years later, I finally got to see the ending.
They were doing you a favor.
I honestly don’t recall any Christmas Specials on TV growing up.
Two things we had on Christmas day on TV every year were:
The Queen’s speech and The Wizard of OZ.
