Hello all, me again, and this time I am finding that another unfortunate thing that is going on in Classic WOW is that at lower levels fish are constantly getting away…
Almost 3 out of 4 fishing casts, comes back with ‘Your Fish Got Away’, and I cannot recall this every happening before.
I am trying to fish on my alt, in UC, but even with a Shiny Bauble, I am only catching about 1 out of every 3 - 4 fish I cast for. Is this intended, just to be frustrating, or is Undercity just a very high level fishing spot??
Thanks in advance!!
If you’re fishing for the first time go to a starter zone and start fishing there. I think cities are considered a bit higher.
I fish in STV and I get maybe 1/4 fish. When I do get them, I don’t get a level. Hard to say if I’m too high, or too low. I don’t remember how fishing worked in classic, because I hated fishing.
I remember in BC when they mandated fishing for leveling of cooking. That’s when I quit cooking.
Honestly, I don’t see the value in it. Pay the extra gold in the AH for raid food if it comes to that. Your sanity will probably thank you.
From an Alliance perspective, I fish in Elwynn until 75 then move into Stormwind. I would think the equivalent would be Silverpine then UC. You still get a few Got Away messages but they disappear pretty quickly.
Tirisfal Glades, then UC, Silverpine is the 10-20 zone.
Thanks all, but the main reason I wanted to raise my Fishing was to get Small Brilliant Fish for Cooking, and I now see that they added an annoying requirement to Campfires of having to keep a stash of Simple Wood along with Flint and Tender to cook on the fly.
This seems unnecessarily harsh honestly as neither of these items is low cost at early levels. Sure, once you buy the Flint and Tender, you have it, but that is a slot taken up, and not I am going to have to seek out a place to farm Simple Wood that does not require me to keep spending every penny I manage to get on it. I Hope it is not just a vendor only item, and it drops somewhere, but i am not confident in this as Blizzard seems to thrive on making the game complex for no good reason. I have never been a fan of Devs who think that making a game impossible somehow improves it. All it does it take the fun away really!!
You can cook at pretty much any flame that isn’t a torch or smelting location. In Ironforge I do it at the braziers lining the walkways. You can even cook in the field at a NPC campfire.
They did not “add” that. It was a thing from day 1.
Yes, I am aware that places to cook food are prevalent, but I was not used to having to carry around a bunch of extra stuff to make a basic campfire, and it is frustrating somewhat…
I think I may have made a mistake trying to check out Classic honestly, as they took far too much of the game away!!
I concur. Go back to BFA
@Brokenwind
I have been playing WOW for years, since Vanilla, and I do not remember this being a thing then either…
Though I suppose it does clear up the mystery of what in the world Flint and Tender is for!!
It was absolutely in vanilla.
PS, you’ve no PVP achievements prior to 2012.
If you say so, I just said I do not remember it…
Can I have your stuff?
It 100% was in Vanilla, though I do agree that I’m not the biggest fan of it. As much as I love the flavour of needing flint, tinder and wood in order to light a campfire, the inconsequential convenience of being able to cook in the field is utterly negated by the tremendous inconvenience of permanently losing two bag spaces.
Hell, high level cooking recipes require trade goods which you need to buy from town vendors, so what’s the point?
I feel like you should be able to light a campfire with only wood and we can just assume the player has some method of lighting it. That way, you only lose one bag space and people might actually then use campfires for the spirit buff while farming.
To be fair, most casters should be able to do this. Mages/Locks have fire, Shammies have lightning, Druids have moonfire/starfire. But I also think they should be able to start forest fires. A dynamic world where a runaway piggy that has Ignite on it starts a brush fire that torches all of Elwynn Forest would be epic.
Maybe you shoul GitGud.
For a short time, one could put it near the flag in Warsong Gulch for example and with several placed be a deterrent to those pesky rogue(s) or druid(s) runners.
Who would start the Cataclysm:
- Deathwing, a tremendous fire-breathing dragon; or
- One toasty boi
I also like the idea of a warlock using the dark powers of the void to rip a person’s soul from their body, and then sacrifice it in a dark ritual in order to make a small fire for toasting s’mores.
Rastlin, is that you? God, I hope not. I might actually decide to go back to the retail forums.
