Confusion.
I didn’t even want to play, but my friends were all playing this while I was still back on Guild Wars.
I had no idea where I was going or what I was doing and it took some time to connect with them since Discord wasn’t a thing and we didn’t have a voice server at the time.
All these years later, none of them play anymore and I run with an entirely different group of people.

November 2004… A cute night elf rogue running around barefoot on Teldrassil having a grand old time.
March 2024… That same rogue (now a cute void elf) running around barefoot on the Dragon Isles having a grand old time…

Rolled a pally in Dec 04, leveled it to 30 as Holy. At 31 I noticed the other two tabs.

Started playing in TBC. I Just bought a new Mac Pro and saw an ad saying that WoW was Mac compatible so I decided to trial it. Made an Undead Rogue and was hooked.
Every time I received a new talent point I would put it in a different tree bcs I had no clue what I was doing. Someone was saying Looking for more for Ragefire Chasm in chat so once I figured out how to whisper them this was the conversation:
ME: I’ll go
PLAYER: What spec are you?
ME: Rogue
PLAYER: No what spec are you like what tree do you put your talent points in?
ME: I put talent points everywhere, I’m all the specs.
Let’s just say I was not invited to that group.

I was very immersed into Warcraft III world and also played Warcraft II prior, and for me it was like getting on the pages of my favourite book. It was also my first experience of a game with a massive world without load screens. Only GTA San Andreas could somewhat compare, and that was a single player game. I haven’t even gone too far beyond Northshire Abbey my first day, but the whole feeling of a massive world that was waiting was enough to absolutely hook me in.
It wasn’t until like level 5 that I realized that I didn’t need to click to swing my hammer.
Tbh my very first play was not appealing to me…I got the free trial and had no idea how good it was. I uninstalled years ago and only just now tried again shortly before Dragonflight.
Mulgore - I pulled 3 goblins - cuz they are goblins right?? I didn’t know that those goblins were not from dnd. They smacked my face hard…
And I still remember my first wailing caverns - the last boss I was so amazed. I wish I didn’t. I play too much =)

i wouldn’t really call wow my home. more like a cheap motel where the service sucks but it’s a place to rest still
I was playing at a Lan center, Human Paladin. Leveling in Elwynn Forest and running down the road past midnight with the moon reflecting on the path.
I was 17, drinking a Mountain Dew Code Red and my brother (a Gnome Warlock) was on the tram coming to help. This was 2004.
It honestly was pure and absolute Bliss.

19 years ago. Literally half my life! I remember being surprised that I couldn’t make a night elf mage. Who knew there were class/race restrictions? So I went with a druid instead. I still have that druid. No longer my main since WLK. But still always among my primary alts.
After making and playing my druid for a bit I hopped to another server to make a tauren warrior. For you see in those days you could not have toons of opposite factions on the same pvp server. After a little while I got to thunder bluff and started chatting to a mighty level 60. He was very nice and invited me to my first guild - - and gave me a bunch of blue and green items in order to get me a bit of money. Not knowing about the AH, as there wasn’t one in thunder bluff, I promptly vendored them. I didn’t end up keeping that toon for very long.
That’s about all I remember of that first day. And truth be told, I don’t really remember if that was all on the first day or within the first couple. But that’s how I tell it, and you can’t stop me.

It was a bunch of people from work. Their voices were the same, but they all had long pointy ears, or were 3ft tall. Finally I was able to understand the lunchroom conversations they were having.
Who didn’t? I know I did, and I did it a couple of times! LoL!

honestly i started in MoP and remember being blown away while doing the panda starting zone, and i really only got into WoW from watching the old school Danger Dolan WoW list videos
I remember starting in the human starting zone being clueless killing mobs back in 2010 towards the end of WOTLK. I didn’t know what I was doing exactly. I remember exploring the starting zone and getting killed by those Defias mobs a couple of times. I was amazed by the zone. It took my a while getting out the zone because I wanted to get better gear from those vendors.
The starting zone was very populated, then again I was on one of those new players servers. I was even more amazed exploring Elwynn Forest.
I explored Redridge Mountains, and then I stumbled upon Burning Steppes. There was danger everywhere once I saw mobs with skulls. It was hard to get back to Redridge Mountains because I kept on rezzing at the healer at first and then dying from the mobs every time I rezzed at the graveyard. It took me a while to figure out how to find my poor dead body and then rez. However, I was feeling quite satisfied and having lots of fun.
Also, what got me playing is I kept on seeing WoW ads whenever I checked my old AOL email. Those were the good ole days! Obviously my first experience in-game left an impression on me because I am still here almost 14 years later!

First day of playing WoW ever: My older brother was curious as to what race/class I’d make so he let me play on his account. I was probably like 6 or 7. Made a female human paladin that I was only able to play a little bit. Not because my brother kicked me off the puter, but because I got scared of the kobolds in the mine and didn’t want to play anymore
My Account: I made my own account at 18 years old when my older brother invited me to play WoW. Made an undead to go with my younger brother’s undead. We leveled a bit and it was fun. Although I thought Darnell was a creepy stalker and not an NPC, lol. Later that day I made my true first main, male belf paladin. Liked him and the belf leveling experience so much more.

My first time playing was actually not that great of an experience. It was still in beta, so there were still things missing. Spawning was bad, so there was nothing in Northshire, and the combat felt “floaty” to me at the time. I wasn’t even convinced to get the game at launch yet. That did change, but that was my first day of playing WoW.

I was but a lower poly count tauren warrior in mid BC. Just taking in the bright sun and lush green plains of Mulgor.
I tried to stick to the road and leaving the starter area I fought a wolf nearly killed me. But I agrod another because I was too close, though by today’s wow the aggro range was stupid big. I died first time.
Think I made it to the barrens and was having a lot of fun. Though also died plenty more between and after lol.
When I eventually made it to 70 I began to spam the BG AV for honor to get epic gear. Because I thought that was the way to get tier.
It blew my mind when my wow buddy told me I can do epic dungeons for purples too.
I was such a a fresh newb completely clueless tanked a few dungeons too. Haha. Good memories.
