Love the wii-u got most of these off the shop so I don’t have to get all my old cartridges and systems out wasting space. Blowing on em just to get it to work isn’t nostalgic lol
Some good ones that I don’t think have been mentioned as of yet:
NES
- Base Wars - Cyber Stadium Series
- Burger Time
SNES
- Aladdin
- Final Fantasy - Mystic Quest
- HyperZone
- NBA Jam - Tournament Edition
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Tournament Fighters
- U.N. Squadron
NES: Legend of Zelda
SNES: Earthbound
Super C, though Bad News Baseball is way up there. It was way ahead of its time with all the customization you can do within team line-ups. Each player had separate stats as well regarding speed and arm.
While the majority of your list is excellent, I feel final fantasy mystic quest is carried on name alone. In reality that game is balls.
The gameboy final fantasy adventures is superior in every way.
i was born too late to really plaly any NES games, but i def had a SNES
i love every single one of the donkey kong country games (but 3 and 2 are my favourites), f zero, super mario kart, super mario all stars, and i’ve only really ever played it through an emulator but i LOVE terranigma
Street Fighter, Donkey Kong Country and TMNT were my first games.
Chrono Trigger… played that one a ton and I should have been studying for finals, but whatever.
Final Fantasy 3 got played over and over and over again too.
On NES it was Dragon Warrior III or IV. The original DW got so many hours played but it was because I started speed running it
Another favorite on NES were the two ninja turtles games. Except the underwater stage in the first one. F that stage.
Donkey Kong Country.
All three of them.
I was starting to think that I was the only one who remembered rygar. One of my all time favorites. I still get the music stuck in my head sometimes lol
That dog can go straight to hell. Spent a lot of hours playing dh with friends though.
Megaman 2. My earliest memories in life are of playing Megaman 2 on the NES. I still play it to this day, beating it for quite likely at least the hundredth time just three days ago. Honourable mentions (in no particular order) go to Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Dragon Warrior, Zelda: Link to the Past, Mario RPG, and Earthbound.
Mystic Quest isn’t an amazing game, but it was an interesting and different game and I only had like 2-4 games a year depending on how birthdays and xmas went so I played it a lot when I first got it.
I did also have fun playing FF adventure on GameBoy but that one is actually a Mana game, and FF legend was fun, but actually part of the Saga series.
They really loved slapping the Final Fantasy name on things back in those days for us Westerners.
Rygar was another great NES game, so hard to remember them all without looking at a list or something! That was one that my Dad gave up on but I managed to beat after countless hours.
Wizards and Warriors was another one, rented it and played it non-stop one weekend as a kid.
NES:
Rygar
Tetris
Final Fantasy
Dragon Quest
River City Ransom
Legend of Zelda
SNES:
Final Fantasy 2
Final Fantasy 3
Zelda Link to the Past
Street Fighter 2
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Favorite NES Game
Super Mario Bros 3
Favorite SNES game
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid. Was a tough question, but I loved that game. The final confrontation with Mother Brain was just, amazing.
NES:
- All things Castlevania! Then again I love anything Castlevania. I got chills hearing Bloody Tears in season 2 of the series. Long live the Belmonts! I’ll just leave this little gem here.
- Legend of Zelda
- Secret of Mana
SNES:
I didn’t play much SNES , but I’d have to say Starfox was my favorite.
