Your Favorite Lore Plot Hole

Maiev’s very odd change in attitude between her defeating Illidan in BC and… actually no, Maiev’s just sorta all over the place, really. Goes from being sad she’s got no daddy to hunt to murdering Highborne and being exiled to letting Illidari go for the greater good, all in the span of like 10 years.

Shadowlands.

it’s my “favourite” in that it’s so massive, that the entire expansion literally makes no sense from the rest of the world and expansion.

I still hated the expansion. but a collassol. expansion sized plothole is too big to not be my favourite… at least to laugh at.

Draenor is free!!

We just forgot all the horrible stuff Grommash did with that.

Not a plothole, but just the absurdity of the layers of reality

Is the light and void the main backdrop?? Chaos and order? Are those the same? The titans? The elements? The first ones? The very first ones? The fel/legion? The magic of arcane? Elune, how does she fit in? The Covenants? The old gods? The sha?

These cosmic forces have (barely) different roles in the setting, I get that, but with no singular unifying principle or force it sometimes feels like 20 different writers pitched different universes to Bliz, and instead of choosing one they decided to just go with all of them

Like just think of how Star Wars does it: The Force. It’s one thing. It’s clean and simple. You can use it for good and bad, it explains everything.

It was a good job! He prevented Sylvanas from enslaving a goddess. If he hadn’t done that, she wouldn’t have needed to wait until the end of BfA, she would’ve floated off into heaven to be with her bestie the Jailer and left us all holding the bag as usual.

They’re on the horde for the same reason as the undead: They were cut loose by the alliance and left to die.

No, not at all. It’s just that Orcs are dirty savages that start fights whenever they can.

Oh, right, and the Priestesses of Elune not questioning their faith after they find out that 10,000 years of devotion lead to the deaths of millions. Some thanks for their good work, ey?

I mean, what are they going to do, renounce Elune and become farmers? That’s fine and good in the real world but in WoW, that would mean giving up their smiting powers.

Regrettably, its Modular Calibrated Altitude System (MCAS) went haywire. Last anyone heard, it was a few billion miles high and accelerating.

 Maybe the flying boat is just a cover and it was really the Vindicaar?

When were ogres on Azeroth before the Dark Portal opened?

Why didn’t the eagles just fly the hobbits to Mordor?

That if the Horde had just left Zul in prison in Stormwind, BFA would never have happened and the Zandalari would probably be doing fine and still have a live king who hadn’t been led to his death by the Horde. Twice.

There are Kalimdor ogres that existed long before the Dark Portal.

Also, that tunnel was largely ignored or forgotten by the night elves for 10,000 years and allowed the Horde to waltz into Ashenvale

I hear the Light is taking new recruits /shrug lol

Where’s it say that? The only ones I’m familiar with in Kalimdor are the Dustwallow that were explicitly part of the original Horde.

Maybe that’s why we all worship the Old Gods now as shadow.
