Your Dream Expansion

My dream expansion would be one where ion isnt directing it.

I wouldn’t want blizzard to sack Ion, he directs some pretty awesome raids. But there should be people with similar levels of power to him that can advocate for other deeply underappreciated parts of the game, like questing/leveling/old content.

I agree with ya, there’s just a serious trend with him that keeps on continuing with every expansion and as you mentioned

Would just be nice to have some work done on our houses foundation you know.

Not working on the foundation and just pumping out expansions just makes me feel like their just milking the game for all its got while not repairing and making that foundation stronger.

I have weird ways of giving examples but im sure you get it.

  • i know ion made that one raid where the rare shoulder drops and thats one of the best ones. I know hes a good person to have, but as you said maybe more on his level would be better.

Heroic Plus dungeon mode for casuals. Never-ending increasing level of difficulty, no timer or MDI/removed from e-sports scene. Gear is obviously less than Mythic+ but can still be improved within its own valor system etc.

Better World Quests.

Removal of LFR. Normal, Heroic & Mythic raid difficulty only.

Streamline the game a bit better. Make Normal raids more challenging and decrease the difficulty of Mythic somewhat. Make the game feel more accessible and less “elitist.”

Revamp the questing part of game. It needs more (optional) tutorials and more introductions of mechanics. Decrease end-game difficulty a bit (while still having very challenging endgame raids)- and increase the difficulty while leveling to make the game feel more over-all engaging. What you’re playing while leveling shouldn’t feel so dramatically different at what happens at end-game.

Bring back Reforging.

Bring back a Mage Tower-esque thing for people tied to unique cosemetics.

Original old-school talent trees. Doesn’t matter if some are boring just 1% damage increases, they were still so much more interesting and fun than what we have now.

Bring back raid designers that have a love of art/lore & not just a love of math/ spreadsheets.

Healthy mix of Borrowed Power + Stuff we get to keep forever. Both are necessary for the health of the game.

Stop equating ‘scary & evil’ with ‘boring & bland.’ Make zones feel less lifeless- if you want to make creepy zones then actually make them creepy & not just lifeless or stark.

More beautiful zones like original Nagrand in TBC. More zones that take your breath away instead of your soul.

Stop getting story ideas from other franchises. Let WoW be WoW.

something fun with tons and tons of questlines, new playable races, lots of BoE green for mogs that drop from nearly everything, lots of new pets to find, FEW if any systems, FEW currencies, No new land masses, just content added to what we have already, reuse of old world mats in new crafting, FAR FEWER kiddie ride circus side show Nintendo 64 mechanix, More involved, compelling storylines.

Completely underwater with personal submarines, underwater battles, and bubble cities or even Dalaran underwater

All the orcs and gobbo’s

i like your thinking… but i’d preffer WoD class design. if i remember correctly, it was basically the same, but it had a tiny amount of borrowed power. like, each zone have a different borrowed power, but they were only in those zones (i think, i might be remembering it wrong). plus, all the classes felt unique, and ‘right’ to play. sure, some had more ‘oomph’ than others, but atleast they were fun (like, combat-rogue was about putting on poisons ‘n’ blade-fury, and you were done. i mean, you’d poison everything!).

We “frankensteining” an expac?

  • Current m+ and vault system, along with the key exchange mechanic in 9.1
  • Current m+ gear upgrade system, along with KMC/KMS requirements
  • Bring back artifact weapons, but without their own talent trees. you just upgrade for more ilvl
  • Current stat system where primary stat always matters more than secondary/tertiary, and hit/def doesn’t exist
  • Bring back vengeance for tanks, but only at 50% effectiveness of the original stat.
  • Legion raid design, but allow exceptional dps to push/skip phases.
  • M+ endurance/survival mode, where both difficulty and drops increase every 10mins. Actual gear only drops from bosses that spawn every 30mins.
  • Expansion lore/story themed around the light and the void.
  • Yrel and Maraad come back as a boss encounter.
  • The end of the scarlet crusade
  • MoP class design for warlocks and monks.
  • Enable crafting professions (tailoring/blacksmithing/leatherworking/jewelcrafting/alchemy) to craft 3-4 pieces of minor stat allotment gear (cloak, bracers, neck, ring, trinkets, offhand) that they can continually upgrade throughout the expansion, using upgraded recipes obtained from profession quest chains.
  • Enable enchanters to affix a moderate amount of their chosen tertiary stat to pieces that they’ve already enchanted. Since we can’t enchant a lot of pieces, this wouldn’t be OP.
  • Enable engineers to further mod their equipment augments for a chance to proc a high amount of their chosen tertiary stat for 8s, with a 2min ICD. This would mean bringing back MoP “engineering enchants.”
  • Enable scribes (inscription) to gain double the vers from vantus runes, have the ability to swap talents without the use of a codex, and have the ability to “store” glyphs so that they don’t need to replace their own glyphs (think of this as “glyph talents”) or use vanishing powder.
  • (wotlk-like) Mining grants Toughness again. Increase versatility by 2% at max.
  • (wotlk-like) Skinning grants Master of Anatomy again. Increase critical strike chance by 2% at max.
  • (wotlk-like) Herbalism grants a modified Lifeblood. Increases healing received by 10% and healing done by 5% at max.

I had more…I just can’t remember.

My dream xpac would be to travel around areas of Azeroth not yet marked on any map, searching for resources to rebuild both factions after the fourth war. Get back into the more common adventurer feel with the option to be addressed as -the- champion of azeroth or a just a regular murder hobo

My dream expansion is one that makes the following races as playable Horde races, which I like to call my “Horde Triforce of Hope!™” as a result:

:small_red_triangle::crocodile: Courage! (Saurok)

:small_red_triangle::bat: Wisdom! (San’layn)

:small_red_triangle::japanese_ogre: Power! (Ogres)

I have two.

  1. Focus on Azeroth
  • Rebuilding both factions
  • More focus on each player race
  • No more humans as the main focus in all stories
  • New capitals for Night Elves and Forsaken
  • Letting all Troll tribes joining the Horde (making all of them playable)
  • Playable Forest Trolls H, Ogres H, Broken A and perhaps Jinyu A
  • Larger settlements (yes even old ones), make the world more alive
  • Separating the Paladin (Silverhand) and the Druid (Cenarion cycle) orders. Two branches each, one for the Alliance and one for the Horde. Pushing both factions in to one was a mistake and hurt both factions, the class and race fantasy.
  • Updating the world
  • Player housing
  • No burrowed powers
  • More player customization
  • More armor, class armor for each race
  • Fun content, no grinds, not thinks like the maw, or torghast.
  • Flying from the start.
  • No zones were you can’t ride.
  • Actual good lore and not the writing we had from WoD until and included Shadowlands

The second, with all the things above, but:

  • Going back in time to relive (not change) the Troll Aqir war.
  • Bronze dragons need heroes, or want us to understand the past and let us see the old empire of Zul.
  • Raids would be epic fight against old god minions, perhaps some Karazhan influence and really crazy.

I have a few things in mind that I really like to see in future expansions.

  • Legions class fantasy, bring back class halls and expand on them. Those campaigns and storylines were amazing and I would love to have things like war’s between the halls and whatever the enemy is of the expansion.
  • Player housing, bring back garrisons but make them much more customizable. Let me build a human mage tower, a NE tree house, a forsaken mansion, a DK necropolis or a Dreanei temple somewhere on Azeroth and let me add stuff to it and show it to my friends.
  • A simple burrowed power system of the Legion artifacts because a single burrowed power system is a good way to get stronger over the expansion and to have something to always do. I think the artifacts were near perfect there just needed to be some hard caps on the AP you could get weekly (do it like the current conquest cap, and make it easier for alts).
  • More world content to do like the legion invasions, timeless isle, Horrific visions and mage tower with decent rewards as well like transmog/decent gear/toys/pets etc. Not like the “world content” SL currently has.
  • Having overhauls of classes/specs that need them and having them be fully fleshed out with their base kits/talents.
  • Redesigning talent trees to have 3 extra rows, 2 extra columns and you now pick 2 talents from each row (you get a talent every 5 levels.)
  • Adding hundreds more cosmetic glypohs to allow us to properly customise our classes. Elunian paladins/preist, Naaru preists/paladins, Loa shamans, Dark shamans, Arcane fire fire mages, Black ice frost mages/frost DK’s, Emerald dream boomkin etc etc.
  • Adding tonnes more customizations for races (the SL ones were a good start but a lot of races are missing out) and allowing every race to be every class (maybe with some exceptions).
  • Lots of campaigns/storylines to do and follow.
  • Lots of dungeons/raids/Battleground/arenas.

Perfect. Blizzard you got this, 10.0.

I was going to say instead of Wintergrasp get rid of Ashran

My dream expansion:

  • Takes place primarily on Azeroth with a few jaunts elsewhere from time to time.
  • No borrowed power systems
  • A significant number of impactful additional customization options added for every race and allied race.
  • Talent rows added for level 60 and level 70 (assuming next level cap raise is to 70). To avoid bar bloat, most of the new talents will be passives or active spells that replace an existing spell. Some active spell talents will still be added for those who want more rotation complexity.
  • A fourth column added to the talent UI so every row has 4 talent choices instead of 3.
  • A fourth spec added to Mages (healing), Hunters (tanking), Rogues (tanking), Warlock (healing or tanking not sure), so these classes can fill a role other than DPS.
  • Demon Hunters gain a third spec that is ranged dps and revolves around thrown glaives.
  • Valor points can be earned from raids and heroic & mythic dungeons, with higher difficulties awarding more points. Valor vendor sells gear at LFR ilvl baseline. Additional Valor can be spent to upgrade the gear ilvl up to heroic raid ilvl.
  • Crafted gear can be upgraded using materials from heroic dungeons up to LFR ilvl. Materials from Mythic 0 to +6 can be used to upgrade to normal raid ilvl. Materials from Mythic +7 and higher can be used to upgrade to heroic raid ilvl, with more mats acquired the higher the key. Crafting mats are NOT bop and can be sold on the auction house.
  • Professions will once again have specializations as well as combat enhancements.
  • Sockets and tertiary stats will no longer proc randomly on gear. Instead, specific professions will be able to add sockets to gear, and tertiary stats can be acquired via gems, enchants, and profession enhancements for specific slots (e.g. shoulder inscriptions, spellthreads for pants, etc)
  • A dye system will be added to the game with dyes crafted by scribes.
  • Instanced player housing will be added to the game. Home furnishings can be acquired through a variety of means such as crafting, achievements, rare enemy or boss enemy drops, etc. The style of instance is selected by the player and options include isolated sections of specific locales throughout Azeroth. Buildings will come in the same variety as those presented throughout the game world (e.g. if you want your house to be a Forsaken styled building, it can be). An option to have favorite non-combat pets wander around the instance will be available. Housing will provide no player power or resource acquisition. Personal bank, guild bank, void storage, barber, transmog, and repair vendor interact-able objects can be added to the player home.
  • The Blood Elf and Draenei starting areas will be merged into the normal space of their respective continents and updated to allow for flying. Silvermoon in particular will receive a significant visual upgrade so that it is visually complete when viewed from above.
  • Any capital city that does not have a barber, transmog, or void storage NPC will have one added.
  • Racial capital cities that aren’t the primary capital for their respective faction will have a portal to the portal room of their faction’s primary capital.
  • The pre-Cataclysm versions of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, and all the original content therein, will be added to the game. Players of any level can take the portal from their faction’s portal room to the Caverns of Time and speak to an NPC that will transition them to Azeroth’s pre-Cataclysm past. Players will arrive in their faction’s primary capital and can return to normal time by speaking to a Keepers of Time NPC located there. Enemies and quests in these pre-Cataclysm zones/dungeons/raids will scale to a maximum level of 30.
  • Chromie Time will have a new option to level through pre-Cataclysm content.

That’s just off the top of my head. I’d have to really sit and think about it for a more in depth look. :stuck_out_tongue:

This would mostly for me. Same systems just new zones/factions/stories.

dragon isles let us pick flights to join and be dragons

I’d love an expansion that revamps the world a bit. Not a full Cata-style revamp but just a few things.

Like, surely Silvermoon has repaired itself a lot by now, right? And surely the Exodar is in a bit of a better state. Maybe make Gilneas relevant again. Have the scar in the Barrens healed a bit more? Things like that that make the world feel more like… a world, that changes.

And I’d like them to USE that world. Legion gave us a taste of utilizing old zones for quests in the Order Halls and tbh it felt great. I loved going back to old places on my quests, I felt like I was on a proper adventure traveling across the world and not riding my horse about a mile down the road.

Also, no more borrowed power. No Azerite, no Anima, nothin’ like that. Don’t even have to give us new abilities just… perfect what you have and then give us stuff to use them on. Maybe some more open world content that isn’t just world quests? Maybe some dynamic events that appear in the zones every now and then?

We need a new playable race.

So far, we’ve had Humans, Gnomes, Dwarves, Worgen, Orcs, Trolls, Tauren, Draenei, Pandaren, Goblins, Vulperas, Elves, and all the various subcategories of each.

It’s time for something different.

We need to have Fungalmancers added as a playable race. Make it happen Bliz!
