Yeah. I got caught out but still not under the minimum. My local PC store said he can”t get me to recommended without a new motherboard.
Are you on Intel? AM4 has that capability with a BIOS update generally. It’s such a versatile socket. Dude may have been trying to rip you off.
What? That thing meets minimum. It boosts to 4.3 GHz and has the requisite number of cores. What GPU do you have? Dude was either trying to rip you off or had zero clue what he was talking about.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Yeah he said I’m ok for minimum but not recommended.
Ah, way too early for me, misread your original post.
Merry Christmas. 8pm here in Australia.
No, last year I upgraded my toaster pc to a heater.
Windows 11
i9 14900k
128gb ram
rtx 5060ti 16gbvram (5090 costs about 4k more.) AUD
4x2tb m2 nvme ssds.
2x8tb sata3 hadds.
5120p monitor.
Thanks, though now I look more closely at the recommended specs, they seem a little too high, but I don’t have access to Midnight, so I can’t check with my machine (Ryzen 9 5950X, 3080Ti). Performance uplift between the 30- series and 40- series Nvidia GPUs wasn’t anything to write home about, and recent AM4 processors are still competent in the face of currently available AM5 ones. But, that’s the problem with basing recommendations on Intel.
Omg I am so far behind… what was I thinking. To play wow or other internet stuff on 32gb ram
What a bizzare build. 128 GB of ram, almost infinite storage space, 5120p monitor and you only went for a “budget” graphics card(5060ti)? Anything short of 5090 feels weird for that pc ![]()
Let’s have a look…
so they are no longer supporting Windows 7 and have now moved up to Windows 10. Ironically Windows 10 no longer even supported really by Microsoft. So in a few more years will probably see Windows 10 go completely bye-bye and Windows 11 will be the minimum requirements. I can’t imagine how anybody’s system is performing admirably on Windows 7 given all of the security updates for .net framework.
I’m running a 3060ti and i5-13600k and see no noticeable difference in performance on beta with the same settings as live.
32GB of RAM is quite plenty for nearly all gaming.
Can I go slightly off topic and mention how hilarious it is that there needs to be a trust level to link to Blizzards own pages.
is changing the motherboard a big issue? i know it’s just a motherboard, but does it require a lot of work/labor cost?
To change the motherboard, most everything else needs to be taken out or disconnected.
If you change to a board with a different CPU socket, you have to change your CPU.
If you change to a board that takes a different RAM generation, you have to change your RAM.
Plus there’s the question of how many USB ports you want, and some new boards skimping on USB headers and ports.
got it
Wow, I’m right on the nose for MN recommended Mac specs.
