Your company has shut down, you now play wow full time. what did you get? Dumb virus

My family has a small business and it’s slowed significantly. Until the judges in the counties we serve in cancel all service of process we will remain open.

No idea. Elective surgeries are shut down - so we’ll see what they do with us.

As for two weeks - what’s going to happen in two weeks? I keep seeing people say that… In two weeks if they let people out, everyone is just going to get sick anyway and this will all have been pointless. It’s going to be a hell of a lot longer than two weeks.

I think the hope is that in two weeks, if everyone stays home, the ones that have it will be showing symptoms so they will continue to quarantine which will hopefully slow the spread.

I get no time off because my job is extremely important. Was told that the only way I can get off is if I catch the virus. Other than that, business as usual.

seriously just came off unemployment and cancelled my meeting because I was going back to work as scheduled (because I am a seasonal worker)………my god trying to reapply now is killing me.

Oh you cancelled that apt…well no benefits for you. Well lets make a new one…naaaaaaaa buildings closed due to virus.

….I just want my PSO2

And if it was you? What if you got forced to stay home? Wouldn’t you expect the company you work for to still pay you?

I’m jealous of those who get to work from home. I work in a cubicle for a major airline. We’re apparently immune to “shelter in place” orders, and are required to continue business as usual. Despite the fact that people from my office travel on their days off, we’ve taken no social distancing protocols. We’re 50 deep in cubicles.

All of our functions could be performed at home, but our Vice President “Doesn’t think work at home engages employees” and refuses to release it.

I make too much money to leave, but I have asthma, and I’d like to be alive at the end of this.

My son is similar to you OP, he gets two weeks pay, but then unemployment until they open the doors again, and then I don’t know his job is guaranteed.
My wife can’t really work at all right now.
I can work from home, so we’ll at least be able to pay a few bills and get some food, although not as much as usual. Wheeeee

As a cable guy I am considered essential, so I’m still driving around doing installs and fixing problems (installs have gone WAY up since this started btw). I’m wearing gloves in every house now though, and using hand sanitizer after every job. Also got a temporary pay increase.

I’m an analyst/developer who’s been working from home since 2016, so no change for me. I make 75k and kind of envy the teachers who make 80k being told not to try to online teach right now. So they’re the bunch paid to sit around for a couple weeks at least. (Their day jobs are way harder than mine though.) Our county is still hoping to be back to school after this coming week, but has people developing stuff for teachers to do online teaching after next week. Online teaching plan includes 2 months of free high speed internet to new customers getting a basic package, so kids without internet can get it and finish the year. They’re also planning to distribute chromebooks to those kids.

Really terribly impressed with the county serving breakfast/lunch/dinner to all kids anywhere via carryout from many schools or busses loaded with food actually riding around the bus routes. They’re not checking which school you’re from, or limiting to the free lunch kids since many adults are temporarily laid off right now. All my phones ringing 3x a day with robocalls from the county about where to get food for the kids.

Got a couple months of TP. All the food delivery services spamming me with deals. Kid has a new oculus quest and abundance of consoles and psvr and old enough to run out to the playground himself if he wants. Aunt suggested Khan academy in case he gets bored, and that just wooshed over both our heads. He’s enjoying his coronavacation.

4 weeks “off” paid and if it continues I continue to be paid per state law. Once they figure out my positions role in this new distance teaching education system, I’ll be expected to return to “work” so I’m pretty much just waiting for instruction.
