There have been a lot of threads on the Trading Post lately discussing the aesthetics of mog and I was wondering how folks choose to mog their characters.
Are your choices based solely on what looks good or ‘cool’ to you?
Or do you take into consideration the character’s race? Or class? Or professions?
Or does it reflect the character’s personality? Or backstory? Or experiences? Or loyalties?
Or their present adventure?
Or is it some combinations of things?
Does each character have a set mog or do you change it at whim?
What guidelines do you use to mog your characters? Is it the same for all of them or individual depending on the character?
Or is it just a free-for-all?
For me, it is individual based on some combo of the above.
A few examples:
My human mage (forum avatar): has a set mog which reflects her class, conservative taste and jaunty personality but will occasionally change into something she feels is more appropriate if her story warrants it. For instance, she just reached the rank of archmage and is busy dealing with movers and shakers so she updated her outfit to a more formal ‘witch’ look. Once she moves on, she will revert to her usual outfit.
My human hunter: changes mog to match whatever bow has caught her fancy in the moment and prefers outfits that are more… ornate (or garish depending on your tastes)
My dwarven shaman: set mog which reflects her practical nature, her loyalty to Ironforge and her affinity with fire
My blood elf death knight: set outfit that reflects her menace, confidence and attitude with a constantly changing weapon looking for the perfect one
My troll mage: set mog that reflects her heritage and recent adventures in Pandaria
My undead warlock: set mog reflects her dark nature and little care for ornamentation (she wears a robe and a cloak and that is it)
So what about you?
