Your biggest WoW noob moment?

I remember when I first started playing, around late 2006/early 2007, I had no idea what talents were. Then one day I think I accidentally hit the default keybind for them, and thought, no thanks, this looks too advanced for me. I think the toon was close to level 40 before I started picking talents for him.

What was your biggest Wow noob moment?

Some guy was offering 1g for guild sigs and I thought infinite gold glitch and made an alt and 2 chars on the same acc can’t sign it but he gave me the gold piece on my alt and I still remember how embarrassed I was to this day.

Tried to befriend a Night Elf Hunter back when I played a Undead Priest in Vanilla on a PvP server while travelling from Tirisfal Glades to Hillsbrad.

I wasn’t aware of the communication issues between factions so when I typed “Hi” and he typed something that came out as “Bur” or something like that.

Next thing you know he attacks me and I suffer my first ganking and he camps me for about an hour.

For quite a few years I learned to hate Night Elf Hunters :frowning:

I couldn’t figure out how to reach Stormwind from Teldrassil/Darkshore (this was early TBC). My friend who got me into the game tried to explain the Wetlands Run to me, but I didn’t understand.

I got to the tunnel in Wetlands after dying several times, but I decided I was going the wrong way and went back to Menethil Harbor.

I decided to try swimming along the coast to reach Stormwind.

That would have taken long enough on its own, but I kept stopping to check for paths through the mountains. It took hours because - fun fact - there are no paths through the mountains and no other beaches or other access to the zones at all between Wetlands and Westfall.

I saw a big guy who looked all decked out at the AH in Ratchet. So as I had become accustomed to doing, I right-clicked on him. He was Alliance, and tagged for PvP. There was a little “thunk” from my lvl 15-ish Priest’s staff. I slowly backed up as he turned around, he drew his bow, I tried to run. One shot.

Leveling up said Priest, I was learning how to Mind Control. Had started running dungeons with this random who was trying to help. We got to a pack where he told me to Mind Control a certain mob, so I snuck up as close as I could, inching slowly to get in range. Then as soon as I could, I cast it. The mob died in about 0.6 seconds, and the rest of the group turned and ran towards me. I turned around, surprised to see my group still about 40 yds away, and booked it through them hoping the tank would pick them up. After the fight, I see in chat: “Wait a min for tank cds” “Viljo, wait” “Viljo, what are you doing? Not yet!” “Viljo no!”

I had this lvl 19 Rogue want to duel me. I laughed at him, declined, cause there’s no way he’d be able to beat my lvl 32 Priest. He kept insisting, so I accepted… that day I learned what twinks were.

Riding on Orgrim’s Hammer, I mounted up and jumped off… only to realize I was on my ground mount. I think that was the longest I ever levitated.

Someone in general chat (tirisfal) asked whaf skull mobs meant and someone said they were so low level they weren’t dangerous anymore.

…I happened by SM, saw a scarlet mage and was like huh. They look scary. Not sure if I belie–Oh hey he’s casting on me–oh hey I’m dead. Yeah that was a lie.

I also once opened up a COD’d gift that was supposed to contain a BoE ring for like 200g. I hesitated but decided I was being paranoid. Level 2 pants. Story ends happily as I convinced a GM to escalate the ticket and get my gold back.

Technically this is worse than me but like in my 30s or so I saw last stand in the prot tree and thought OH I JUST HAVE TO HAVE THAT so I respecced from whatever garbage spec I probably was just to get it.

So I did some dumb 2H build as prot all the way to 60.

Back in the day, I didnt know Talents were a thing until I accidentally pushed N. I was very confused.
I also didnt realize there were other pages, so I thought Beast Master (My first toon was my hunter) was the only thing I could put points into.
I didnt learn otherwise until I hit 60.

Trade: “100 Khorium Ore on ah!”
Me: “Why are people always gasping in trade chat?”

Got so lost in UC after turning in my breadcrumb flying quest that I had to hearth back to Brill. Undead warlock, my first real WoW character. Started in mid- to late TBC.

Edit: And running to the trainer and eagerly paying to learn “Divine Intervention” on my then and still pally main. Raiding friends had to explain. WTF moment for sure.

Back during Vanilla, on my first ever character, a hunter, I had no idea what talent points where. I got all the way to 60 and even into a Molten Core raid before someone asked me if I was a beast mastery hunter. I had no idea what that meant and when they asked me my spec breakdown, I had no idea what that was.

I literally leveled to 60 with a 0/0/0 build, but at least I knew how to access and use the hunter class trainer, so I wasn’t complete devoid of any abilities.

I somehow jumped into The Barrens from the orc starting zone.

I did the entire Worgen starter area not knowing I could look up and down. I was overwhelmed by the interface and there I was lost in Teldrassil

Fast forward to making the trek to Stormwind after much lost in the deeps of Darkshore and someone decided to hold a conversation with me. I couldn’t figure how to chat and they just laughed, patted me on the shoulder and then mage portal themselves away

My first character in vanilla was a warrior, when i got berserk stance for the first time, i used it and all of my abilities vanished from my bars so i went back to battle stance and ignored it after that lol

Fatfingering my roll and rolling off a cliff mid fight. Then doing it again as demon hunter.

My friend who got me into wow kept mentioning the term “mob” and I figured that meant a lot of enemies because it sounds plural. I had to ask for clarification.

Also my first character was an elemental shaman and when I fought fiery enemies I figured hitting them with ice would be really damaging because why would fire hurt them? And vice-versa. Makes sense, right?

Lol. I’ve been playing for a long time and still do this kind of stuff. Course I can’t possibly be the only one who has died in story mode Gallywix by yeeting my DH off the platform right? Right?

Purchasing TWW.

Apart from that good thing there’s still some nice people left to play the game with.
