Lot of misinformation out there about this event. I did the research for you and I am placing it all in one place. So you all can see it for yours and feel better about this event.
Once you hit 100 coins (the hard part) you will get an achieve that makes the coins drop from bosses and all other repeatable content. Think of it like remix. First mo is hard after that you have more currency than you can spend
Blizz literally said this in their blue post. They also said they fully intended for players to get ALL the T2 Sets. Just not right away.
Source where they talk about it
First 100 coins will feel time gated and they 100% are. After that you will have it coming our of your ears because you can spam farm them and they will drop from ALL anniversary world bosses and other repeatable content.
You can farm as many tokens as fast or as slow as you want on various toons then transfer them to 1 character. You just have to hit 100 first to unlock that feature. Hell the achievement literally says it.
Achievement Required
Token Collector
“Reward: Bronze Celebration Tokens drop from repeatable 20th Anniversary activities.”
I hope this clears things up for some of you and makes you feel better
T2 Revamp Token Discounts
Upgraded Apparel is obtained after you purchase your first revamped Tier 2 set and reduces ensemble prices to 40, and Classy Dresser is obtained after your second purchase, reducing the cost of all remaining ensembles to 20.

PS> This thread was just to get some factual information out there to be helpful to others it has NOTHING to do with if you are or disagree with the 3 week Timegating

I love this fact checking.

On the PTR once you hit 100 coins they started dropping off all the anniversary world bosses. SO yes it will feel grindy to that first 100 after that it will get more trivial

naw
fail
Three sources it should come from this week wasn’t even available to me, like weeklies, the pvp quest.
I’ve lost track of the bs at this point, and honestly don’t care about the PR attempts by blizz to smooth this over.
Fail event.
Blizzard’s choice to be a meme /shrug

It’s an anniversary event, don’t make me play 100 hours before I can get everything… the time gating should be discarded with this type of event.

Should drop from everything from the start… just cosmetics, I don’t even feel like farming those “first 100”

You wont just login and do the weekly’s. You will get 33 coins a week if you skip Korrak’s Revenge weekly. Once you hit 100 it wont feel time gated anymore. Also after your first T2 set the cost starts dropping. After you buy 2 sets they will ALL cost 20 coins from then on. First 60 second 40 then 20 from then on
I think the problem people have, and I’m not saying I agree with them because I don’t, is that there’s this arbitrary 100 coin threshold to begin with.

Mark my words. In december you will start seeing post on the forums of people asking “what else to spend their coins on” claiming they have all the sets and are bored.
Remix all over again. Feel free to quote me from here in one of those threads

I agree, friend. The whole point of the internet is to give people a venue to find something wrong with every single thing that has ever existed and upchuck their very important opinions about them out into the world with no repercussions whatsoever.
Well its an anniversary event! I shouldn’t have to DO stuff, they should just like…gimme it!

To be clear that wasnt really my point when I made this thread. I made this thread to be helpful. There has been a LOT of information out there about the event. This post gives them info they want Clear. Neat and all in one Place
They dont have to like the "Timegating"or agree with it but the info is there. Im just the messenger
What a silly take (as if the complaints are about players not wanting to put in the effort).
The complaint most have isn’t about the overall amount of effort, but rather that effort is arbitrarily time gated the first three weeks and requires players to do very specific activities.
I agree that those claiming it is impossible to obtain the sets from the event are either clueless or being disingenuous as it is possible to get all the sets.
But no more disingenuous than those excusing the design with the ‘you have two and half months, what does it matter if Blizzard gates the first month to waste your time, you just want everything for no effort’.

but really what’s the difference if they grind out these activities for 100 hours this week or spread the 100 hours over the next 2 months. The effort is exactly the same. People just want instant gratification. It really is a non issue

I kinda get where people are coming from though, it just makes the start feel crap, when it’s a celebration and should feel good all the way through.

Instant gratification hardly applies if one is talking about the need to sink 100 hours of effort into a game to earn the rewards.
Also answer me this, why it should matter if some players take one week, others take two weeks, and still others take the entire two and a half months to put in the 100 hours.
The current design is just set up to keep players subbed and playing through the holidays to keep subs and engagement metrics up rather than allowing players agency to determine how and when to put in the effort.

Id agree if this was the case but we are talking about 2hours a week for 3 weeks
Now this is a true statement
