You think you wanted it, but you didn’t

We are so proving Blizzard right at this point.

All the, you need to change this, or remove this exploit.

Blizzard must be laughing their pants off right now at us. They are all sitting there going, “yep, we told them they did not want Vanilla just like it was 15 years ago. And the forums are not proving us right.”

Asking for blizzard to remove player found exploits proves people don’t want the game?

Ok weirdo.

Blizzard was always wrong to say that because even some people who quit today, may come back to play classic again that wouldnt touch retail.

15 years ago? All the time.

Now? I think head but it’s Onyxia’s to buff my alts.

Uuhh… We asked for Vanilla WoW they gave us Modern WoW that’s been hamfisted into something that mostly plays like 1.12 Vanilla.

Tho there are quite a few alterations that are not really 1.12, I could list them but it’s been done so many times now that you should be able to find that.

Then scroll on over to the bugs page, there are tons and tons of non-vanilla bugs in Classic 2019.

Then realize that when we asked for VANILLA we wanted what was Vanilla wow when people think of Vanilla WoW.

1.12 just isn’t it; it’s close but not cigar.

Classic is everything I’d hoped it would be. If you expected retail in classic, you are at fault for believing something that wasn’t true.

Some people are, yes. There are definitely people who thought they wanted it, still think they want it, but don’t want it AS-IS.

However, “we” is too global. There are definitely people who are not sitting on the forums (we’re a tiny fraction). Even among those on the forums, there are people who thought they wanted, really did, and are enjoying it immensely.

except we never got it they came out with layering and mega servers and many other changes…so from the start we never got vanilla wow.

Dude, Classic release doubled their subs. Everyone could quit tomorrow and Classic would have already have been a success. We thought we wanted it, and we did.

I did, and do want vanilla.

But I’m not terribly happy with the bait and switch into this, essentially watered down and butchered, pre-tbc mess that we were given.

It would have been far more interesting, and enjoyable, if they had followed the original time line. Include the parts when vanilla was actually difficult.

Some examples:

  1. Lesser magic wand was white and did a LOT less damage.

  2. Early on, there was no auto shoot for wands. Each hit was individual, the same way each spell cast is individual.

  3. There was a time where warlocks were so under-powered, and abused for summons, that on my old server (Spirestone pvp) warlocks declared themselves a separate faction. Many would not attack a warlock of the opposite faction.

  4. Elite NPC’s in dungeons hit much harder. It was not the cakewalk we have been given. (maybe so that those who have only played more recent xpacs would not get discouraged so quickly)

  5. Populations were a GREAT deal smaller and made it much easier to get to know others on both factions. The smaller pops made world pvp, questing, and farming crafting mats more enjoyable.

  6. New servers (with no transfers in for 3 to 6 months) came out frequently. This was particularly important for PvP servers. Old pvp servers discourage new people from joining them.

  7. Once BG’s came out, new servers were great for allowing pvpers to easily find other like minded players. People who loved pvp joined them while leveling up. People who only cared about the rep or the honor, raced to 60 before entering bg’s. In this Classic version very few pvp friendships/teams were formed during the leveling process - because the option was not available. IF this actually were 1.12 (or 1.13???) bg’s would have been in the game from day 1.

  8. There were PvP guilds. People worked together to help each other improve. Duels were a common method of testing out techniques. I see none of this in classic.

There are many, many other changes. But overall, classic lacks the depth and organic growth of vanilla.

Classic is a shadow land of what vanilla was.

Even i know that i DONT want that

I think we just wanted the customer care back and unfortunately that was one change they couldn’t do.

that costs money. they dont charge separately for classic.

You’re not wrong. I’m gonna be straight up and say TBC was the better game overall. Better armor skins, weapon skins, Outland was awesome, Arenas, Paladins had Crusader Strike, etc. Yeah Vanilla for nostalgia, but TBC is where the game truly came alive.

Bingo.

The opening post is inane.
