Frankly it’s a no brainer: permanent vanilla, tbc and wrath servers, left untouched and alone, for people to play on. Revenue forever, with little to no expenditure/effort.

Ill interject that no more conjoined abomination clients that have unavoidable split personality disorders needs to be a must.

Exact version should be built and then effective left untouched forever.

Plus it would earn them some much needed goodwill…

But their MO nowadays almost seems like a cry for help, given how intentionally antagonistic they act toward us at times (what with unwanted changes, ignoring much sought-after changes, etc.)

sadly, at this point in gaming, blizzard will only do what they believe will make a profit for them. A 5k player permanent tbc server wouldn’t exactly give them much.

I don’t have stats to make any solid claim here but 5k users’ worth of subs in exchange for supporting a handful servers that won’t require any active development? If they can keep up dozens of classic era servers I see no reason why a few of those couldn’t be BC or WotLK instead.

Outside of classic era’s weird sacred cow status anyway.

Just 4 for BC and 4 for WotLK. Instant good will earned. (I say 4 because NA PVE, NA PVP, OCE PVE and OCE PVP. Everyone’s covered.)

Thing I liked most about it is the Vulture people there are so much like my old favourite movie from many years ago. The Dark Chrystal. They were called Skeksis. They are called that in WoW too and look almost exactly alike and are kinda evil.

Honestly, they could collapse PvP and PvE by embracing a retail War Mode style system where players can dynamically opt in to it or not. For those unaware, in retail, you can chose to enable War Mode while in a capital city. You will be flagged and moved to a separate layer, along with everybody else who has War Mode on. You can only disable War Mode when in any area granting rested XP.

I realize this is a different experience than originally provided but most people playing on a PvP server aren’t there for PvP and if it lets Blizzard cut down on the number of servers they support, all the better for those wanting permanent Era servers for TBC and Wrath.

Either way, there’s absolutely no reason (other than sheer Blizzard stubborness) for these servers not to exist.

Yeah but people would chuck a wobbly if war mode were in classic.

I’d rather do TBC via SoD.

You’re totally right, but they’re going to do that no matter what so why let that hold us back?

I would prefer Classic → TBC → Wrath to be quite honest, for longevity of play. Of course at a sped up phase release rate. I would suffice for just a TBC but that would be very short lived and not worth it to me as an individual.

One big turn off to it for the player base though is the fact that Blizzard ALWAYS lets the $ decide. Therefore, phases will not be sped up like they should be for the player base. Blizzard is way to comfortable caring more about the sub numbers than caring about what its player base wants, this is a well known FACT of how Blizzard does releases of ANY form.

The player base NEEDs something that is absolutely unaffected in any way by any other version of WoW. That means in order to do this Blizzard needs to take a bullet for its player base, which is HIGHLY unlikely because Blizzard will never release something that is not based on keeping subscribers around during other WoW version down times.
