Sweats being sweats lol. I look forward to wotlk, with it’s eventual dual spec and dungeon finder. Ya’ll can cram onto the two TBC servers and keep doing things the sweaty way if ya want while the rest of us move on.
I guess you weren’t on the forums much during Vanilla and TBC. Duel spec was wanted during that time too, which they finally caved and provided in Wraith.
Manifestly, it’s nowhere near a requirement, or no one would have ever played arena in pre-WotLK versions of the game.
The other part of what you said is almost accurate. Dual spec’s sole function would be: Remove a gold sink and let people spend less WoW money. And no matter how you dress that up, it’s not actually a positive thing.
Well I’m gonna have to disagree with you on both of those. But I’m quite tired of typing out paragraphs for random dudes on the internet over a hypothetical argument
Disagree that people are somehow playing arena now and did in original BC if it pleases you, but I wouldn’t recommend walking through fire because you’ve decided to disagree that it burns.
That’s not what I’m addressing, I’m addressing the “meta” that happened on pservers, or provided the information that lead to the meta that happened in classic.
The reason for the change was clearly described by the devs back then.
" Nethaera : Why are we allowing players to dual spec after all this time? Ghostcrawler : We really felt like this was a great way to increase the flexibility available to players and encourage them to take part in more aspects of the game. To use just one example, some players like to participate in both raids and Arenas, which is awesome behavior that we want to promote. But, there are some talents which are more useful in one part of the game than another. Currently, players have to pay respec costs and go through the process of setting up the desired talent spec and action bars whenever they switch.
The new system makes this a much more logical process, saving on time and cost and allowing players to easily move from one aspect of the game to another."
Oh, well. If they said it was an improvement, then clearly it was, and obviously Modern is the superior game just like Brack said and there’s no point to playing Classic at all!
In all seriousness, someone who says and means “if I don’t have dual spec I’ll just ‘raid log’” is not someone I would want the game changed to accommodate anyway; that way lies most of the game’s content being marginalized again.
