You think expansion comes out this year?

big doubt here about that, big. This stuff is essentially more complicated than a proper movie, and a really good one of those takes 4-8 years of development and production. I do not have high hopes this time around.

Does it come with an exclusive mount, pet and achieve?

If 9.2 releases in Feb or March it can’t carry us to next year. I am hoping for Sep or Oct but realistically I expect the 2022 holiday season or November 23rd to coincide with the original WoW release. This is after all 10.0.

We’ll be lucky to see an announcement of the next title by the end of the year, imo, with the release coming 12-18 months after the announcement.

They will claim (same as everyone) that COVID put them behind schedule. Also the acquisition by Microsoft will halt all new material for at least 6 months, pushing the release of everything new (including 9.2) back by months.

I’m not a hater, I’m just used to how things work in corporate America by this point. It’s not solely a Blizzard issue, by any means. Pretty much all of corporate America is singing the same song (or the gaming companies, at least).

Regardless, if we haven’t had an announcement of a title by this point, there’s no way an expansion will be released in calendar year 2022.

Probably 10.0, but not the expansion… think like an extended broken shore type of patch that sets us up after the jailer arc…

Unless we start seeing the news of it and a beta announcement by late spring, the chances are minimal.

Wrong.

Expansion releases Q4 guaranteed.

You might think you know about corporate America but clearly you don’t understand how game companies operate.

They have been working on the new expansion since the release of shadowlands if not earlier.

Yup.

They kinda abandoned both Cata and WoD similarly but the proceeding expansions ended up being great(MoP/Legion).

Here’s to hoping, as dangerous as that is these days.

Edit: Oh. And on topic, I’m predicting March/April 2023. Because, reasons…think about it.

I think that the Microsoft purchase will delay the next Expansion until next summer, depending on how much crap Microsoft has to shovel out of the team. (As well as things like the hoped-for world revamp.) I’m predicting a 9.2.5 “epilogue” patch sometime between June/October, with an expansion announcement at Blizzcon in November.

Keep in mind that the last few expansions have had the last raid stick around for quite some time, and 9.2 hasn’t left PTR yet. (and iirc, Eternity’s End was stated to have the final raid of the expansion…)

Announcement for new expansion comes right after mythic jailer kill, beta may/June… expansion launch November.

You guys think Microsoft wants to lose money by delaying products?

You realize they eliminated the 9.3 patch so they can meet this deadline for Q4 expansion release?

8.3 released Jan 14, 2019.
Shadowlands released Nov 17, 2019.

Eleven months. And that was before Covid and all the internal strife.

And they’re barely getting current content out the door. The last chapter of the korthia quest strongly looked like it shipped unfinished and they planned to finish it during the time gate, but due to internal strife they never did and had to throw in some “just click this” conclusion.

So realistically I think we’re looking spring 2023 if not summer.

Cata was a bad expansion for bad players.

I think I am going to uncharacteristically refrain from playing armchair project manager.

If anyone truly in their right mind believes that a AAA gaming company would launch a product in the spring/summer when most people are preparing to spend the next several months doing outdoor activities… well I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn I’ll sell you.

Clark will buy this and post a screenshot.

Expansion is March 2023 at the earliest and possibly August/Sept 2023.

I mean, didnt Ion just say in an interview that we should be prepared for content to be slower for a while because of all the problems? I mean, it should be expected.

Cool! We’ll see if you’re right!

Got a working title for us?

In the case such as that? I don’t understand nor see how people could keep playing in a drought like that tbh. Sure I lived through wrath…but the game was different back then.

Yes, I imagine we are in for interesting times.

Either that, or they ramrod content out fast, and we can all predict how that is going to work.

Personally, I’ll opt to be patient and give them the time they are going to need. That’s what alts are for! Maybe I can get some crafters up to be able to craft rank 6 legendary tokens!
