So, you’re out grinding mobs in a high traffic node. Lots of players of both factions, insane respawns… and you spy a lonely treasure chest. But! You must kill a few mobs to get to open it first.
And then somebody, at teh last second, swoops in and steals it!
That’s one side of the story. The other side is the other player(s) who also spotted it, while fighting nearby mobs. They killed their mobs, and claimed their prize. They knew as soon as they saw you, you’d try for it too, and they got lucky and killed their mobs first.
Or, maybe the second player never noticed you, had no idea you were after teh chest, I mean, they can’t read your mind, right?
Sometimes, I’m the first player, sometimes, I’m the second. Today, I was teh second player, and boy, did I get cussed out. It would have been worse had the other guy known a blue was in the chest.
Folks - don’t assume people can read your plans as you fight mobs, or even that you spotted the chest first. Don’t assume being the same faction means special treatment. Now, had the mage been on top of the chest, I’d have let them take it.
Ymmv. But - I even point chests out to people at times. And, I’ve seen people try to snag a chest I was on top of, only to aggro a mob, then rage because I claimed the chest. Dudes, if you try to race me, I’ll race you, too.
tldr - Chests are first come first served, unless you are literally on top of it.
