I end up using belts I don’t like all that much on their own, but because they crop the tabard.
It’s so weird to me that this is a hit or miss thing depending on which belt you use, and isn’t just a toggle setting. It should definitely be a transmog setting at the vendor imo.

make it a crop top and chop the top off so just the lower part is visible.
Yes, let this be an option similar to shoulders being separate pieces. Let there be a toggleable button that forcefully takes away the tabard flap. If the belt doesn’t want to automatically remove it (usually from a lack of implementation by the devs), then at the very least let us do it ourselves.
