You ruined prot pally game play for me

I doubt I’m the only one who feels this way…

You ruined Ret when you brought in the holy power for me.

I absolutely hated that resource management. Before I could spam my divine storm as a ret pally and it was awesome. Let me burn my mana using this aoe if I want. Let me gather up as much as I can take and see if I can kill them before I die. Let me play how I want to without having these holy power gates limiting my abilities.

It wasn’t all bad because protection was still fun to play.

Well now you’ve ruined that game play for me as well.

Before I could use my shield of righteous when running into a group and it had charges. I also had my heal (hand of the protector) with charges that I could toss on myself or other players. It was fun to help the healer out or even save the healer. It was a blast managing all the cool downs and keeping track of everyone’s health and popping those heals on them or using the big CDs like lay or shield if they were gonna die.

Now each of those spells costs 3 holy power. I can store up to 5. I can choose between or the other. Not to mention if I don’t have enough I can’t use either.

My hammers that I could cast whenever I wanted? A cool graphic that looked neat! Now I have to be with in melee range of a target! I can’t just cast for fun. I can’t just cast as I wait for the spawn. I can’t just cast over the corpses of my enemies. I can’t have fun.

I skipped BfA for a number of reasons and now I have to get some alt classes caught up to see if I like the way they feel.

Anyway, here’s my voice. I hope others agree. Not sure how many take the time to write vs just quitting.

I am still mad about the SotR sound effect being changed from oomphy metal sound to a wooden thump.

I would also very much enjoy having Holy Avenger and Seraphim on different rows so I could do absurd single target dps like in WoD.

HP does sucks though

I’m having a lot of fun as Prot. /shrug

Same, it’s actually fun and engaging while not being so difficult that I can’t keep up. I throughly enjoy it, but I also have zero plans to go too far I raiding. Might shoot for heroics at the most.

I agree, HP stinks. Definitely feels rougher than BFA was. (Though some people seem to enjoy that)

Hard disagree here. I am not sure how anybody could play prot right now and not feel more flexible than we’ve probably ever been. Damage feels great, rotation feels great, and the healing is insane.

You can literally heal m0’s and 3v3 arena as prot right now. Or dps them. I am expecting the coming tuning pass to be painful.

I’m still not a big fan of Holy Power, but I now understand the necessity of it because you need to use WoG so much. I think the way prot is going initially is it will favor Versatility, Mastery and Crit because you will be using WoG more so than SotR, so getting your versatility, block and parry up will be more important. When healers are a more stronger as we progress, you can go back to the haste/mastery combo.

I only ever use WOG when it’s free cast now or my defensive is at around 10 seconds or so.

I just started leveling up a prot pally (never played a pally in WoW before now) and so far it seems to be my favorite. Sure, I haven’t hit the 50’s yet but so far there is so much flexibility in how I want to play. Also, soloing seems so much easier compared to my Blood DK.

I know this comment doesn’t add to the convo, just was more of an opinion that at the moment prot seems pretty strong.

Holy Power coming back made Holy and Prot more fun, IMO. And Prot is better with it, the uptime on Shield of the Righteous is higher now (at least it is for me).

This post is just proof that people will complain about any and everything Blizzard does, so they just need to be ignored. Prot is fun right now.

They always seem to post on their other characters too…

It is a real thing, I have a friend who liked his pally alt and when HP came back he hates it now. I don’t really get it, but yeah, it’s a thing.

I would much rather have HP than rely on manna. U say let u play how u want, but it goes both ways, as many players prefer HP and the ability to control a resource and attack management rather than simply wait for a mana bar to drain.

You’re complaining because you can’t manage 5 dots on your screen?

Really…

100% agree with this. I am no longer playing my protection pally because of they readded holy power.

If you take blessed hammer, you barely notice the HP (its almost like it isn’t there, still exists but notice it vastly vastly less). best and by far most fun talent in the row

unless you do the hard end game group stuff that needs meta gaming and can’t take it

I’m glad you’re having fun. People who didn’t play the old can’t miss it and can only judge the new which can be a blessing.

I could keep Shield up constantly by using my holy power for it every time but it wasn’t fun for me to play like that and I hate having to choose between using my 3 for that or the heal. Glad you’re having more fun.

Yes, people will complain about changes because when you make a change there is a good chance not everyone will like the change. I normally never visit the forms. Only time I’ve visit them is when I hate what they’ve done to something I use to love. First time I think I went to the forums was Diablo 3 and I had more fun on them then playing the AH simulator.

LOL, yep it’s real.

I skipped BFA but absolutely loved my prop pally in legion.

Well I tried to explain it.

My first char in Vanilla was a rogue… I can manage the 5 dots… I can’t use two of my spells right after each other which before I could. I have to manage the 5 dots vs manage the charges. It’s not fun for me.

The mechanic itself allows for a variety of content to be done since SoR uptime is only Armor and for me in PvP where 95% dmg is magic I can just use HP on WoG instead. Since SoR uptime is irrelevant then pool HP and my Leggo with punish conduit to hit big crit SoRs. Which is incredibly fun.

The design of Prot right now couldn’t be better as it allows for many variations in builds and choices in rotation depending on what you are fighting.

I’m not sure how you can claim the new way allows for more variations and choices in rotation depending on what you’re fighting… Holy Power (HP) requires you to hit guys and use certain attacks to build the HP up. Once you get three built up you can then choose to use one 3HP ability. Then you are forced to build back up 3HP again with certain moves. It literally forces you to use a certain moves and a certain rotation. This can cause a potential waste of HP if you’re not constantly using your HP before you get to 5 or forces you to use those moves so they don’t go to waste. If you use an ability/talent that lets you gain 3 HP instead of 1HP at a time then you have to change your rotation into something different while the ability is active. This then forces you to use other moves and change your rotation so HP doesn’t go to waste. Yet you think this allows for more variation? It literally forces certain moves and rotations on you. I’m not sure how you claimed what you claimed but your thought is illogical without evidence. So lets see why the old way allowed for more variations and rotations.

Before you could use the charges when you saw fit; you weren’t required to build up HP. Feeling buffy with a good healer and DPS? Pull four groups at once and burn your righteous shield charges at the start of the fight! You don’t have to build up HP first because you have charges! Want to heal yourself with a charge and burn a shield with a charge back to back? You can! With the new system, shield of righteous and word glory each require 3 HP, so you are required/forced to use a move in between since you can only use 5.

Time allowed me to build back up the charge when I was stunned or save up 2 or 3 charges when I was going ham with the DPS and didn’t need the shield buff. I was able to go ham with DPS and save my shield buff! You can’t save up your HP… When you’re stunned you can’t gain it. When you miss you can’t gain it, I think.

Not sure how you can claim the new way is better. Hopefully you’ll look at my examples and see that it isn’t.

Dude i disagree with pretty much everything you said.

I never feel like I’m out of holy power. I always seem to have more than enough. The last dungeon i did the healer rarely healed me and died once due to bad positioning, i ended up healing/tanking a massive pull with everyone alive and healthy with how massive my healing output was.

I love, love ,LOVE prot right now. It feels extremely fluid to play and always have somthing to press with no downtime waiting on a cd or gcd.

Sorry you hate prot paladins.
