It’s similar to human factor engineering.
All specs are viable but when the disparities are large, the humans on the other side of the keyboard gravitate towards a consensus that they collectively deem as true—filling that raid spot with a warrior is vastly preferable to all other options.

If you can raid with empty slots then the bar for viability is not “can this spec be present for a successful raid completion?” Even if we were to ignore the fact that not contributing equally to your raid feels bad, and having lower output meaning that the difference between you doing well and you doing poorly approaches null feels bad, the reality is that what the community considers viable is what’s viable. The game doesn’t not dictate viability because we play in the real world and not hypotheticals.
If you play a “meme spec” you will have, say, 10% the success rate as a “real” spec at getting into a raid, and then if you get into a raid you’ll have probably a 1% chance of actually being treated equally with regards to character progression. On top of that the odds are that the raids/guilds you do get into will be of poorer quality players. Arguing that a spec’s performance is irrelevant is disingenuous and an embarrassingly stupid position besides.
Sadly it’s not like people Devilfroot actually believe their own bullhorse. Vanilla purists are just fundamentally incapable of discussing the game in good faith. They aren’t trying to progress conversations forward so much as they see words as puzzle pieces that if put together correctly will get them closer to what they want.
Obviously I’m still here fighting the good fight, but ultimately it’s not like even if you get them to acknowledge X and Y that they will accept the necessary conclusion of Z. Even if you managed to get them to do the first part they’ll just move the goalposts or simply deny reality.

Okay heres my view coming from a Retail player and Classic/Sod player: This is not Classic +, this is not SOD. This is Classic Fresh which means “New restart” Classic Realms. This does not include the “changes”. They’re shouldnt be changes. Im not gatekeeping but this is a fact. People who want changes to these servers need a reality check. If u want a Barber,Xmog, etc etc…go to a private server or Retail. This is not ment for changes and such. Apparently, people who want changes are just visiting from Retail because they are bored with M+ and raiding right now. Go play SOD or stay and accept that these are RESTART Realms not a CHANGE. Like it or not learn to accept it and have a reality check. #keepnochanges .

doesnt matter even if its the slightest bud, its all in azeroth based around your content that u want to play. no matter how small of a change there is. call it what u want, but it is what it is. plus u can stay on era, theres already changes in fresh and more are bound to come. enjoy

My old raid team when gearing for content would do MC with 20 because we could double the loot output. We were playing more optimally in respect to class, but you dont need “optimal” at all in vanilla.
The only people who do are top end GDKP / Speed clear teams.
The rest are just being idiots pretending to parse
Vanilla was released in 2004 and I don’t remember Chronoboon being in it. Even in #nochanges we had changes.
Also haven’t touched Era in years because of the GDKP trash. I’m an actual fresh enjoyer. Not a tourist.
So to say we have had it 3-4 times is just a blatant lie.

One day maybe get to taste Vanilla. 2019 is as close as I’m getting though it seems.
