a few weeks after Classic’s release, the Classic fans told us that not only will Classic retain the player base it had right after release, but that it will substantially grow months after release. I member.

Is it shrinking? I haven’t been paying attention.
I made a shaman, played a bit in Durotar and haven’t been back since.
Nope! I played a little last night on a alt was still busy. Plus BWL is on its way, sure it’ll get even more busier!

I got to level 60, got all my pre-raid BIS, then realized there wasn’t much of a point in going further, because I prefer RPing over Raiding, and wasn’t willing to leave my RP guild for a raiding guild, especially since you’re just one of 40 people, and gear drops are so sparse, it’s just not even worth the time investment. So, classic is basically done for me. 
I still log in to do dungeons with my guild when they need me or to attend RP events, but there isn’t much else to do in Classic.
I wouldn’t be surprised if things are dwindling a bit due to that.

Almost no one said this tho lol? You probably saw one post on the forums and took it as a general consensus.
There were way more players who not only planned for the drop in players, but also looked forward to it. The game has a healthy amount of players currently, and those who enjoy it will continue to stick with it.

Classic is performing exactly as I expected it to–it’s doing well but it isn’t hurting retail. If anything it’s actually helping retail by bringing back old players that wouldn’t have considered touching WoW again save for it.
That being said… shame on you for making a pointless bait thread to antagonize classic players.

Tovi, I can’t tell if this is a serious response or a joke lol. Literally non of these say Classic is going to gain more players compared to where it started, except kinda the first one (maybe?).
These are just ‘sky is falling’ threads from when Classic launched and WoW populations were low. Hell, most of these appear to be from people who focus on Retail lol. This happens anytime Blizz does anything
Back in my day Blizzard gave us a patch and dammit we played it and we liked it even if we didnt!
