The difficulty needs tuning in general though, the way Torghast worked was basically go through a slog of no challenge HP sponges until you got to the ACTUAL challenge. Nobody liked killing 2 hours of trash mobs before the raid bosses back in Molten Core, I really don’t like doing it now. And frankly speaking, I’m going to need challenges that amount to more than “This boss enrages at X speed, you either have the DPS or you don’t” which is what the mobs currently boil down to. They have almost no mechanics, because all of their “difficulty” is tied into pure damage.
If you’re meant to interrupt a mob but your class has a 30 second cooldown interrupt (which is EXACTLY one of the things they changed) then what is the mechanic?
You can’t just turn damage and HP up and expect people to be thrilled, especially when the entire freakin’ tower has a grand total of like 10 mob types (6 of which are bosses you only fight once per 5 floors)
If they went the mechanical route there would be more outrage when the sub par community that is the casual playerbase literally can’t manage to stand out of a patch of fire.
And they never did unless you outgeared the level. Doesn’t make that ‘challenging’. Hitting things 8 times which is what was pretty much happening last time I did it isn’t challenging, just tedious.
Classes aren’t balanced, specs aren’t balanced. And blizzard had no intention of trying to balance them either in here so you have to make the content so the weakest class/spec can do it.
yes I know but that wasn’t what the conversation was about and I frankly aren’t interested in talking about just the top layers because I don’t have experience there.
Uh, seeing as twisting corridors also goes
Off the layers system, wouldn’t exactly call it difficult seeing as layer 8 is literally faceroll now. And from what I’ve read, corridors goes only up to L9.
This is more a ‘trying to fit a square peg in a round hole’ kind of challenge since old raids have mechs specifically designed for… well, a raid group. So this is a matter of not playing better, but trying to cheese mechs out or rush mechs. It can be seen as similar on the surface but actually going through it is a completely different thing altogether.
