You know you are old when

when you’ve been a vet for longer than the age you where when you enlisted.

Sounds like those kids need to play Saints Row

I mean, rappers and pop stars are in the rock and roll hall of fame. It’s sad really.

When you still love listening to the Beach Boys, Roy Oribson, Elvis and 60’s music which I do.

I think about this a lot and something I’ve noticed is most good movies or shows they try to make now are set either pre-2008 or in current timeline but disconnected from society (think forest or desert) where you can’t:

  1. Immediately use the internet to solve the mystery/problem

  2. No reception

Because phones offer instant camera and internet access and this simply cannot be ignored due to the plot of events unfolding within a story. Fictional media now tries very hard to push the characters away from their technology.

A couple of examples come to mind regarding this:

Jeepers creepers 3 and more recently Clarice (storytellers both decided to set their story arcs in the 1990’s for this convenience).

You know you’re old when you turn down the radio to see better, or when your daughter doesn’t know what waynes world is, or even Bohemian Rhapsody. This is a true story, and I feel I have failed as a father. Next thing you know she won’t know who Monty Python is, or Princess Bride :frowning: lol

33 - 45 - 78 … If you know what these numbers represent, you’re in the “GET OFF MY LAWN” stage of life.

We spun vinyl, listened to AM radio, and eventually taped music off the radio using our cheap cassette players.

And my Mom had these sweet old 78 RPM records from the 40s that were heavy like a dinner plate.

My first car had an 8 track in it. It sucked how it would go KERCHUNK in the middle of a song. when changing sides. It was outdated technology by the time I had it, but I did pick up a couple cheap 8 track tapes to play. Alice Cooper. Linda Ronstadt.

Yeah, kids these days just dont like 80s music. Gone are the days we take the horse and buggy to the opera hall and jam out to the latest Mozart symphony. It was even more fun to distract the first chair violinist by having my friend show him her ankle.

Hey I really am old. In college I was going to go see this unknown little band playing downtown but had to study for a midterm instead.

The name of the band was Nirvana.. Just a band nobody had heard of yet.

I saw once an exchange of a kid being shown a floppy disk and the kid calling it “a real life save icon”…

You know you are old when you remember there being a TV station, bowling alley, and ice skating rink, gym, arcade (mostly mechanical pinball machines), and a movie theater in the mall. Also Radio Shack sold computers and electronic parts and not cell phone junk. Going in to the Radio Shack was like walking in to a sweet sweet computer store that you had to touch every keyboard to write THE PROGRAM on.

5 REM It’s optional to use DOG FARTZ instead of the name.

I finally realized it this year after getting injured through training and being forced to rest since the new year

Time to hit the :syringe:

Or I would pull the refund lever right before I hung up. Got that coin back 80% of the time.

Belt drive or direct drive?

The funny thing is, thanks to those techno and rap DJs, vinyl isn’t so outdated after all.

Ugh I am late 30s and I don’t like 80s music lmao. 90s is good though. Early 2000s I like too but I suspect that’s mostly nostalgia

I think you missed the joke.

I was talking about 1780s music.
