I mean it honestly. Thank you for trying. At the very least I’m going to say thank you for trying.
You listened to what the players asked for and gave a handful of solutions no one really wanted but at the very least you tried.
People asked for TBC servers since classic re-released. For 5 years non-stop people were BEGGING (me included) for TBC servers and Wrath servers. And in all your infinite wisdom and knowledge decided to add another 14 months to the wait time for… anniversary servers? God forbid you just release specified servers.
I mean I guess you two birds with one stone’d this by giving people fresh vanilla servers although many people are upset you did QoL updates and quite literally un-did the point of it being vanilla for some people. I appreciate it but the main fanbase for vanilla does not.
Some people wanted an updated classic vanilla with class balancing and better itemization and you gave us SoD. Classic vanilla with pockets of retail WoW which gave such overpowered gear and spells/abilities it basically removed any and all value of vanilla content. Boosted some classes/specs to be more usable and boosted already overpowered classes into the stratosphere. Boosted exp and gold as well. Might as well just play retail. Even the new “specs” like warlock tanks is just a reskin of the demon hunter tank. It has a fanbase sure but it’s mostly just RPers who only play it because they need boosted classes/exp/gold to actually get any distance in vanilla.*
Hardcore Classic? Not gonna lie maybe it’s me misinterpreting it but it’s not hardcore. It’s just single-death classic. I was assuming double health bosses, additional mechanics to bosses and maybe every character gets -10 talent points. You know actually making it hardcore? Instead, it’s a bunch of people so terrified of losing their progress they do all content over leveled and over-geared and way over CC stacked to where they run Deadmines with a full team of level 28 players like lol bro this was the furthest feeling from hardcore. I mean have you watched videos of these dudes at level 60 content? Imagine stacking 3 crowd control effects and pulling 1 single mob at a time then pulling it 3 miles back to 1v40 it then calling it hardcore! It’s not hardcore but just classic while walking on eggshells.
Again, thank you for trying blizz. Not what we really asked for or even wanted really. But you gave it your best shot or well at least I hope you did and gave us whatever this classic community has devolved into.
*PS: No offense to you RP players but I used to play on Wyrmrest Accord and I played on bloodsail Buccaneers for classic release. Only clearing mythic garrosh in the last month of MoP and doing SIX HOUR molten core runs/wiping with 40 people on onyxia is a pretty clear sign there is a significant lack of skill on RP servers. Don’t hate the facts or the messenger.
