You know what bugs me? Wowhead

They have all these nice tabs at the top for the many different things yet the retail one shares everything from all the other tabs? Why do i see diablo stuff in my wow stuff?

Yes I already filtered it but it really grinds my gears when they have the tab called retail but its everything with retail drowning in it.

:biohazard:

Thank you for your time. Have a lovely day/night.

You can tell that Wowhead really cut back their staff during Shadowlands. Even little things like updating user submitted content that used to happen overnight started to take days or weeks.

Wowhead has its issues and sensationalism problem… but I still can’t live without it. I’m always looking something up there.

I mean if you want anything nerfed. Just have wowhead report on it.

The user-generated content is still great for finding answers to questions about WoW, though it is usually easier to search with Google first and find a link to the relevant page as their own search has issues.

The site organization has become a mess and many current articles and guides published are low-quality copy / paste filler.

Welcome to the world of modern journalism (and yes, Wowhead is a journalism site - a niche one for Blizzard products but still)

There’s a reason why sites like Wowhead stick to sensationalism and writing more articles than is “necessary” or “newsworthy”, because otherwise they have to shut it down

I know right? And you know what grinds my gears?

Not using the clutch when I shift gears on my drive to work.

I know. It’s why I dropped out of it in college. :expressionless:

it’s annoying to navigate to me you click a link, for anther link, for another link lol.

Same, basically a single npc can take a step in Diablo and we’ll get 18 articles pop up about it

It’s wowhead, not diablohead

I liked studying it because it was a practical way wherein I could translate my interest in research, analytics, and science but …

Between ableistic teachers that didn’t understand that an adult age group education contained adults rather than children, and the absolute insane stress that they were forcing onto folks with next to no instructions …

If that’s representative of journalistic schools around the world I’m not surprised that there’s a continued steep decline in journalists in the past 20 years or so

I had some excellent journalism professors in my day, who taught us about the importance of real research, unbiased views and trying to just give the facts in the best manner.

But… it was also paired with others who taught us that it needs to hook readers, depending on audience and then it just spiraled downward into sensationalism. I saw where the industry was headed back then and I got out before it got bad.

My guess is that they deliberately don’t do that as otherwise no one would ever visit any of their other articles since the vast majority only go to wowhead for retail wow.

To be fair, they’ll probably do it for WoW again for two-or-so weeks when the patch hits. Remember how they did like 10 articles for the Orc heritage questline?

Can’t wait to see the individual articles for the lines of dialogue Calia, Derek, and Lilian have during the Forsaken heritage questline. Maybe Alonsus, Darnell and Helcular will make an appearance, so they can all have their own articles as well.

Why do you have it set to display that? Just uncheck Diablo…

:100:% Every time.

I can get away with it on my Harley, but my car, forget about it, need that clutch.

I worked for a paper/magazine business as a carrier during college. There are people who’d sell the soul of a family member for a story.

One got perma banned and shamed for speaking ugly of a military base having been allowed on it briefly.

I used to drop off papers, for free mind you, and be told to explicative get lost. All because the editor wanted to write terrible non factual disrespectful stuff rather than an actual piece.

I left that and would never go back. Then I briefly worked as a photographer and got cussed at and pushed around at a low key function. You have to be that way apparently to get ahead in the business. Get that story first before the next guy. Get that picture first. Not my cup of tea.

I left to become a HS teacher and that was just another thankless and demoralizing job. :man_facepalming:

Medical field is so much better. So many opportunities to help the community.

Ironically, I dropped secondary education because I knew I’d never be able to follow all of that standardized crap and I’d end up fired for trying to actually get kids interested in something.

So I went to just English and Linguistics.

I don’t want to derail nor soap box, but I have nothing but respect for today’s teachers.

I had the Praxis done, my K12 done, and I LOVED the concept of teaching, but the students didn’t share my passion and the administration was unsupportive.

It was my dream job since I was a child. Hardest thing I had to do. And expensive to let it all go.
