You killed the best version of your game

Good Job well done

To be fair the hive mindedness of all the BUMs is what really killed the game. People were doing just fine and having fun playing SoD. And then they dropped the announcement and everyone just decided “I CAN NO LONGER PLAY THIS VERSION OF WOW!!!”

Seems it is pretty hard for most people these days to enjoy themselves without being told when, where, and how to do it. Hand holding is required.

That being said I agree they never should have made that garbage announcement to promote Mist of Boardaria. :boar:

This was never the best version of the game. It was fun sure, but the community is horrible to make content for. They complained new stuff was too hard then it got nerfed and then it was too easy. They added optional hard modes and that “wasn’t classic” then they removed hard modes and then people complained that the raid needed hard modes. Then they gave us a buff and now people complain it’s too easy. I’m really not surprised they stopped. I would doubt they even want to do classic+ at this point y’all are insufferable.

If they actually gave us some PvP content in the last 3 phases of this game there may have been a lot more people willing to stick around longer. SOD was turned into a sh!tty raid-log PvE game midway through phase 5 so I don’t think you can really blame people for quitting this PvE game when they announced no more PvE updates. There’s literally nothing to do outside of Naxx/SE right now except 2 shotting people outside LHC and Tyr’s Hand in EPL with full consumes/world buffs. This time its not a player problem but a Blizzard problem.

I 100% agree Grresh… could you imagine if they just simply give us some pvp changes? While it wouldn’t magically make everyone (pve andies) to come back. Im sure there would be for then enough people to have bgs active with 3 or 4 games. =)

No bgs poppin. Sure op will change his mind if AB revive soon.

It’s over dude.

This soo much, whack pvp balance despite promising balancing weekly, which they abandoned early on, failed attempts at “pvp” content which evolved into either a pve zerg rush in ashenvale and massive lagfest that the servers couldnt handle or into lagfest 2.0 where your objective was farming altars in STV if you were one of the few chosen ranged classes.

The team failed hard on pvp, and like gresh said, what are you left to do if pvp is not an option? you raid log and then quit or simply quit before that

Not everyone enjoys doing raids over and over again with perhaps a handfull of competent players and the rest just kinda being there and filling a spot or leeching etc

Meanwhile pvp content is all about the player, you perform or you dont. Unless its a BG which are terrible pvp pugs with all the downsides of a pug and no accountability for players being afking leeches or throwing games

While this is true 90% of the player base are PvEers and they just decided to quit as soon as the announcement dropped. I don’t think a lot of them would of stuck around for new PvP stuff anyway.

They are sitting around complaining about how bad MoP and Cata are but also refuse to play sod so idk. And this is not me saying blizz did nothing wrong because they have made plenty of mistakes and it makes no sense how such a large company just refuses to apply adequate resources to their game.

Just give us a SoD rerun until classic+ arrives. Phase 1 with full runes sounds like fun.

That’s the million dollar question. I think its mainly because with minimal effort they are making a boat load of money… the sheep keep following w/o an issue.

Its absolutely insane that even though SOD was a beta for Classic+ that they couldnt continue to test more stuff on it and not totally abandon it till at least classic+… Not for MOP.

It’s because the decisions are made by people who literally go to board meetings and sit down and the first question they ask is “how can we squeeze more revenue out of this?”

And that’s also the last question they ask. It’s the ONLY question they ask.

There is no consideration of player experience or what is actually healthy/fun long-term for their subscribers.

Incentivized PvP is what keeps the game alive during the week while everyone waits for their raid IDs to reset every Tuesday. SOD hasn’t had any of that for 3.5 phases in a row so I’m not remotely surprised the population died overnight with that Aggrend post. Not even the tryhard parsers really cared anymore with that new SE damage/HP buff. If there was anything to do other than raid-log I guarantee the drop off would’ve been a lot slower. You think all those people in full T4 with Ashbringer would’ve quit so easily if they had something fun to do with all that gear for awhile? I don’t think so. I only stuck around as long as I did because I thought there was no way in hell they were just gonna completely abandon a significant part of the game entirely after Phase 5 and give us a banger in one of the final phases. Silly me. Oh well at least I had a lot of fun owning many T4’s and Ashbringer’s on my Phase 5 geared warrior.

To be honest I think raid-log culture is a huge problem with Classic WoW and its community in general and this needs to be addressed in a big way for Classic+. Its just bad for the longevity and health of the game. I’ll never understand people who pay a monthly sub just to play a few hours a week while playing a bunch of other games for free whenever they’re raiding Molten Bore. Either make your game worth playing everyday if one chooses to or don’t make one at all. That’s such stupid game design. If that’s Classic+ next year then that’s such an easy out for me.

As for a “big gaming company” not applying the adequate resources for their game its now apparent they chose not too. Gaming today is not the same as it was back in 2004. Back then gaming was more niche and seen as more ‘nerdy’ so many gaming companies were by and for gamers(especially Blizzard Entertainment which had a reputation for rarely if ever making mistakes prior to 2009). Nowadays with gaming becoming such a massive mainstream industry, its now corporate board suits calling all the shots and if they can’t squeeze more money out of you or monetize it, then the idea is usually discarded.

The game wasn’t good because of the community not being grateful enough? This doesn’t even make sense. Par for the course coming from you though.

The game was fine. Was killed because the small classic team doesn’t want to put lots of effort into a raid just for everyone to complain. Then do the opposite and believe they’re listening to the community just for them to completely 180 on everything they have said. If I was a dev I would of cancelled sod as well. I love sod and thought it was great. I still play, but from a small dev team standpoint the community is abysmal. It’s still not the “best” version of wow. objectively that was wrath just based on player count

hello, is this the complaint department? i have a complaint i wanna complain

Weird necro

Sacrifices had to be made to get something bigger out of it. And sod was that sacrifice for classic + in 4 years.

They really did kill the best thing they had going. The mistake they made was calling it a “season”

Season of discovery was so much fun.

If they did a PvP patch I definitely would’ve stuck around long term.

PvE just doesn’t have the same level of replayability as PvP content
