The mere fact that you add these customizations during a player draining lawsuit that mentions harassment and anti-poc racism, and so much more after YOU SAID “we have no further plans to work on customizations” means that you either
Had these customizations done already, and purposefully released half your work to pretend your next update was new and timely to get money.
or
Looked in the face of all your players who were so happy to get curly hair types, brown skin tones, asian customizations, jewelry etc, and proved the critics correct for stating “this is just Public Reputation” by releasing what you said was too hard to continue improving, until this lawsuit…
Either of these conclusions land on the fact that you could have or should have been working on customizations WAY more than you have, so the real test will be seeing if you stop here yet again when Kul Tirans have no thin forms, night elves don’t have any tree hued brown complexions, and many classes lack identity immersion like Resto druids without a base floral form or even treant glyph to replace human form like stars can replace moonkin.

This is about sensible business practises, not lying.
Yes, they keep extra, not-quite-polished, content in the ‘kitty’ for both the future and emergencies. Of course. Any good business with a creative bent does.
Is the bad publicity that type of emergency? No.
Is the internal problems caused by the suit (which is causing the bad publicity) screwing with their production that type of emergency? Yes.
But this is not the machiavellian plot folks keep trying to make it out to be.
actually they never said what you claim here at all, in fact they said the opposite. They just never claimed they would release anymore this expansion.
you can prove me wrong though with a source but I would be very very surprised it you can back that claim up because I read the exact opposite
did they even say that though because what I read is they had plans to continue working on these but had no plans to release anymore this expansion (or words to that effect).
They said something about not having any cosmetics on the schedule for upcoming patches. However as we all know they are now pushing development heavily right now which likely allowed resources to be put towards the development of them.
But I don’t think they ever said “we will absolutely not be putting more customizations in” it was more of, “we probably won’t be”
nope don’t think it was that. they said no plans to currently which doesn’t mean anything except at that point in time they didn’t have any plans. It wasn’t a blanket statement they wouldn’t. I know they got called ‘liar’ then by people who read things into their statement as well.
“We have no further plans” is not equal to “we will not”
If I say I have no plans on making that pumpkin bread today and I make it I didn’t lie, I just didn’t have plans to do it at the time I said it, things change
I have no doubt this is the case, I’m sure Blizz has plenty of stuff they could implement right now if they wanted.
They could be doing a lot of things, they prioritize what they feel is important.
