Why is this even a thing? When the holidays are around and the dungeons show up, we get limited per hour on all of our characters. Some of us don’t have the extra time to wait that d%mn hour and wanna get the dungeons ran on all of our toons before going to work. Why the h%ll is this even a thing? Why limit people from doing at least the holiday dungeons? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
It’s to prevent bots from farming gold, tokens, or whatever else that particular instance is famous for.
A holiday dungeon…where you only get a daily reset on all characters…to farm gold…? Really?
You’ve failed to read then entire post, because you’ve mentioned only gold for a reason, just saying. There’s a major thing that drops from the instance that you’ve previously mentioned, and that’s tokens.
I responded to what you originally said. I’m no betting man but I’m guessing nobody is farming the uncrowned dungeon for gold. They’re going for the mount. My original question was why is the limit placed on holiday dungeons? Everyone wants to get in, get out, and cycle through our characters.
This is why you server hop to other alts during the cooldown. Each server has its own lockout system. It isn’t account wide. It is tied to server. So if you hit the instance limit and you have alts on another server, change to that server and run through the alts, then hop back to your original server.
Because bots farm instances. It’s why limits were introduced (originally at 5, I believe) and gold drops were nerfed.
Holiday bosses are the same instance. There’s no separation in the coding. You’re going into SFK regardless of boss.
There’s instance limitations because it takes a lot of server processing to make instances. If too many accounts are spamming too many instances all at the same time, they run into problems. You’re calling very reasonable solutions to basic physics problems the dumbest thing you ever heard, which is the dumbest thing I ever heard
You can only do 10 mount rolls an hour, that’s life. It wont change.
How do you know that this is true? Did you poll the entire player base?
Because it’s an instance, therefore included in the lock out, which exist to keep bots from endlessly farming instances.
100% agree, the limit should be removed for holiday events.
Well I mean, the tokens aren’t tradeable or anything. So if a bot ran 20 characters through there in 30 minutes, it’s not like they’d have a ton of love tokens. They’d have a small amount on 20 characters. I think the limits were put in place for other reasons than that.
I will say that I do hate the instance limit though, just because I don’t fully understand it. I get its necessity, but like…
It’s 10 instances per hour, right? Does the 1 hour timer start from the first mob killed of the first dungeon? Or does it start from the first mob killed of the last dungeon, when it says you’re locked out?
mostly to stop botting.
Thanks i didnt knew that was a thing
Yes and it’s Battle.net wide. So it includes multiple accounts.
As for how it works, it’s a ruling hour from the time you enter your first dungeon.
That’s wrong info in so many ways.
You can enter up to ten individual instanced zones per hour. The limit is per account, and cannot be avoided by changing characters. You can still queue for random instances in the Dungeon Finder while under effect of this limit, but you will not be given a Deserter debuff if you cannot enter the dungeon.

It’s a global limit because of bots and has nothing to do with holiday dungeons specifically.
Plus, it’s not like you do 10 then have to wait an hour. The clock is ticking from the moment you finish the first one. Give it a half hour or whatever after your set of runs and you’ll be able to do another whole set with minimal issues.
Of course if they can exclude specific instances from that rule, awesome, they should do it for Holiday dungeons, since there’s zero reason for bots to farm them and they only take like a minute or two.
But also, I think the bigger issue is honestly that people feel the need to have, you know, 27 max level characters to begin with. There are only 12 classes. You can almost everything cross-realm. Why spam characters like that?
No it is tied to server, as I said.
Homie I legit just spent the last 2 weeks farming the love rocket with 24 toons each day. All I did when hitting instance limit was hop to another server and do 10 more, then hop back to finish the last 4.
It’s to reduce server strain.
