Granted Ive been messing with computers since the mid 80s of one sort or another, so I understand Im at an advantage over some older folk, but these Gen Z sorts have been raised with tech so having them in here complaining about the UI being too complex is kinda hysterical. lol.
Theyve been playing computer games, having to screw around with settings for how long now and somehow THIS is the final straw? lmao.
I need more coffee. lol
maybe 2 minutes tops to get a feel for whats going on…then yeah, 20 minutes tinkering to get a basic set up you like .

Took more time to login on each character to click my setting then setting it up. Hell I even accidentally deleted mine since I clicked on the right and blindly blasted through the delete warning. And setting it back up was easy as hell.
Most of my time so far this week has been spent on waiting for world rare spawns and sifting through lua errors to see what addons were breaking others even though I had the latest alpha builds.
I LOVE the export/import feature. I saved mine in a text file on the desktop cuz I KNOW Im gonna screw it up sooner or later.
We can export both the UI and spec setups. Really cool they added this stuff.

I logged in last night and my 5 minutes of UI setup work was all screwed up. I mean badly.
Turned out after a couple of hours of frustration that it was a addon that caused the issue.
I disabled all my addons and my 5 minutes of work returned. Then I re-enabled each addon one at time till I found the offender. It was a damage meter that was just updated. That addon was deleted. The rest were activated with no problems.
I had to do the same thing with all my characters. I think I got to bed at 2am.
I had completely forgotten about, was just using import from wowhead for prepatch raid specs (since just using alts for single target world stuff).
Thank you for reminding me to put that in a document ((which I should do again for plater, bartender (since I still need niche things not covered), and details)).
Can anyone tell me how to enable the unit frame of flag/orb carriers in Battlegrounds?
Before the patch I could see them on the right side of the screen.
Must be some tech hating folks living in 2002.

I agree to an extent, but as someone that has used ElvUI since Wrath, I can tell you that full blown UI replacements can take as little as five minutes, or as much as an hour or two to tweak every last aspect of it.
Some folks are also extreme OCD about stuff like this. Depending on the severity of such things, if their UI isn’t picture perfect and symmetrical, it will throw their brain out of wack (a big reason why the Blizzard UI needs a feature to nudge UI elements pixel by pixel)
As for myself? I wouldn’t say hours, but on the rare instance that ElvUI has either broken or changed enough for me to start reconfiguring it from scratch, that’s generally a good 30-45 minutes for me.
I’ll fully agree that some folks do complain solely to hear their own voice or feel important, but at the same time do try to understand that your experience isn’t going to match everyone else. Some folks are happy to spend 5-10 minutes on something like this and get on with their day. Others want to tweak every last aspect to their liking, but the problem is that while the new Blizzard UI is a good step forward, it still lacks basic accessibility features that other full UI replacements have had for well over a decade.
this. setting up the ui using default is not hard, I did it several times on beta.
if it takes someone hours, that’s a them problem, not a problem with the ui.

People who have to micro adjust everything are going to take longer. It’s why I usually use others’ UIs or presets. They do all the work and I pick the one I like the functionality and look of best. I’m just waiting for wago io or any other website to finally have a bunch of Blizz HUD customizations.

I’ve mostly figured out my UI. I got it set up on the first character and got it to save under a custom name (“Default 1”…don’t judge). I know some people are still having the issue where the layout won’t even save but that started working for me after the first emergency maintenance on Wednesday. So far so good.
So when I go to every other character and switch to that UI layout, it absolutely refuses to import all elements. Most of it gets configured correctly, but action bar 1 and character frame are completely out of place, and action bar 6 isn’t even enabled when it’s supposed to be (plus a couple of other minor things). Why it’s doing that - I have no idea. I would have preferred to just use my one saved layout across all alts but now I’m having to fix it on every single one and save it under that character’s name.
Took me hours to setup my UI, happy with the final product. New Talent tree took a couple hours too. I wanted to read up on it.

yea i think it took me like 10-15 minutes. even if it takes u a while you only need to do it once and you can just copy to alts.
honestly the best idea is just getting elvui and importing someone else’s profile. ur good to go with like 3 clicks. and u can adjust after
there’s tons of profiles on wago you’re bound to find one you like

Cumulatively, I’ve probably spent well over an hour setting things up and tweaking it. As I have done things and set characters up, I notice things that are missing or hard to access, like the action bars covering up the casting bar, or that the action bars are covering up the druid forms bar, or that the action bars are covering up…

It took me about 5 on bone here then copy paste to all my other toons.
It sort of reminds me of swtor ui set up

You can select it from the list once you have a set up saved…as long as you didnt click the box for the specific character as you were saving it.
Faster than copying pasting, but obviously either works just as well.

60% of the player base cant breathe automatically. Its blizzards fault for having those kind of players. What kind of ppl do you expect will throw tons of money into a game to win. The phone game market has the most ignorant player imaginable and thats exactly who blizzard has tried too attract into wow. You literally get what you deserve. I love the new UI and it took me like 15 minutes just playing with everything too see how I liked it. Thats not being in a rush. These ppl are just herds of cash cows.
