You get the mount you’ve been farming, now what?

So a lot of us have had “that mount,” what do you finally do when it drops?

Personally I’ve had a few including both of the Attumen mount, the Yogg zero mount, ellegon, and most recent the Shackled moubt from Argus… it dropped today! I am in the process of mogging all my characters to use it but typically I get bored and swap mounts in like a week.

So do you all…

  1. Ride that mount on one toon the rest of your playtime, or ride it in all toon?
  2. Immediately realize it isn’t so great and start farming something else?
  3. Something in the middle like me, use it til you realize the chase is almost more fun than the prize?

I have only farmed one mount, Ashes of Al’ar, and I use it on all characters who aren’t level 1-10, druids, or herbing (I use sky golem for that).

I love this bird! I’ve had it for about three years I think? Totally worth it. I used to use the dark phoenix, hoping that one day I would get the SUPER SPARKLY ONE! Now I have it and I love it :heart_eyes_cat:

Move on to the next thing i was wanting to do, be it in WoW or something entirely unrelated.

I usually have several projects going at a time. Given my army of alts, soloable raid mounts are short-term projects.

I cross it off the list and move on to the next target.

You know that one football commercial that had a dude bench pressing after winning super bowl? Asked if he’s taken a break, and then he pauses a bit to rest, and then goes right back at it.

That’s pretty much the mount acquisition process.

when you get the mount it’s more about what you dont do. aka never having to do the raid/dungeon again.

Right click, learn the mount, check mount achievement tracker count, plan a new mount farm. Ride it for a bit if it matches my transmog.

I use invincible on all 3 of my dks. Alar on my belf fire mage because no other race or class makes sense and the antoran charhound on my dhs.

Even when I get the mount I want, there’s still others I could go for that don’t require group’s so I do that.

What’s worse for you?

Having absolutely everything farmed in the instance and not having the mount after several several tries.

Or getting the mount early, but that somehow demotivates you from wanting to farm the instance at all (if it has mog you are wanting)?

there are always more mounts to farm

this, im so scared its gunna drop again when i go in for the odd transmog lol. i always try to bring a friend to ones ive already gotten already

I’m just farming for that sweet 300 mounts title, only 26 more to go! and like 11 of them I have left in ZM so it’s just a matter of when the raid becomes soloable/olea caches become affordable…

Unless there is some particular item I want, I’m there for the mount. Getting random transmog I didn’t have is a plus, but not worth going back for.

Enjoy seeing it occasionally on my random favorite mount button macro.

During TBC and Wrath I did runs for the raven lord mount which at the time was my favorite ground mount. You still had to have a druid to summon him at that time, but my druid buddy agreed to give me the mount. I eventually got it after something like 800 runs, used it for quite a while as my main ground mount until I got a spectral tiger. I wanna say I used it until MoP? So several years.

Don’t really farm raid/dungeon mounts anymore though, I don’t think I’d ever ride them since I usually use a TCG mount or now, since they are account-wide, one of my gladiator mounts.

My characters’ mounts of choice are color-coordinated with their mog or thematically appropriate for their class.

My main want that I occasionally farm is the Sha of Anger dragon, I’ve had 10 alts there at the little inn nearby and sometimes down to 1 alt, and don’t take it too serious. If I got that, I’ve be pretty happy, but then would just move on to camping some alts at the next one I want the most and go from there. It’s about time in the expansion cycle to camp alts again.
I play alts pretty regular and they all have different mounts I use for them, depending on their theme.
