no that is the rating system at work making. you dont start an expansion with 0% crit haste vers mastery etc.
Find me anyone who after losing all the borrowed power still feels strong going into a new xpac. I’ll wait.
If they could create content that lasted for four years, that could be appropriate. But I stopped playing pretty much April of this year, took a five month break, and am only now back to simply dabbling a little on alts. BfA as an expansion had enough content for about a year; three extra years with it would be suicide for the game.
Rating system isnt borrowed power because you still have the stats, crit haste mastery and versatility dont get removed at the end of the expansion. yes they get lower but they are not removed.
That doesn’t invalidate that you feel extremely strong with borrowed power vs without it, that’s the whole reason people can solo stuff like Legion raids currently with azerite power and corruptions and that was just last xpac content.
Of course it doesnt invalidate that because it is a different system. Stats =/= borrowed power, borrowed power = Artifacts, Heart of azeroth etc stuff that lasts a patch or an expansion.
Thus my part of the borrowed power system resetting every xpac and feeling weaker vs the end xpac which is what I said to begin with, lol.
When I read the title I shivered at the thought of 4 years of BfA. I’m not even a person seething with anger around it either. I’ve enjoyed a lot of aspects of it, but the idea of being trapped in this content for 4 years would surely bring WoW to an end.
3 years I would say would be the max for an expansion, but they would in turn have to spend more time developing patch experiences to keep people playing and enjoying it. And that is development time that I (and I’m sure a great majority) of the community would prefer and enjoy being placed into meaningful expansions that don’t bring us to tears for years.
That’s a nice thought but Activi$ion Blizz are all about making money and popping expansions faster

If you knew you had 4 years to flesh out the BFA story, you could have spent 1 year with the faction conflict. a year with Azshara, A year with the Black Empire, and Sprinkle in some dragon isles for 6 months, and maybe separate out mechagon for 6 months with a deeper story.
The point being, you could dedicate a full year to flesh out an entire story arc. Don’t cut corners, and you would be quite surprised how many people would stay around for good story and meaningful content, over hamster wheel gearing and mindless Arbitrary Power farming to be discarded at the launch of another expansion.
and it only took some of us 6 weeks of BFA to hate it

While great in theory, I doubt it would happen in actuality. Blizzard designs around borrowed power systems because they are easier to change/remove when they don’t work as intended. They would simply spend more time tinkering with that rather than flesh out the story better.
