To all the people that think buying a subscription to World of Warcraft for 12 months for $155 (or anything near that number) makes someone a whale, you have no idea what a whale is. A whale spends more than that in a single day on a game.
I once made the regretful decision to spend about $3,000 in one month on a game that I have since uninstalled and will never play again. And, I will never do that ever again. I had the disposable income, but in hindsight I felt it was a poor investment, but EVEN THEN I was not a whale in that game. I was a minnow. You have no idea. People spend so much money on games now. $155 for 12 months, are you kidding, that’s like one of the best deals I’ve seen. WoW is relatively cheap, honestly.
The $155 for 12 month deal is actually the opposite of a whale if you were going to be subscribed to the game anyway. You’re saving money and getting free stuff.
I had to log in, because sometimes people in WoW are really clueless about certain things, and if you think spending $155 for 12 months of a game sub is being a whale, ROTFLMAO!!! No, it just isn’t so.

Not to mention… the $155 is a discounted price.
So people are saving money and getting free stuff.
Edit: I missed where you said the exact same thing.

People are just salty that the store mounts are far more unique and attractive than what is available in game. Don’t let their jealousy ruin your day.
These are the same people that want the game to return to a time where the most interesting mounts were exclusive only to a select few and that if you saw the player in Orgrimmar / Stormwind with that mount, you’d literally worship them. It’s a sad attempt at reliving perceived relevance. Just ignore their ridicule!

Realistically most people here will be subbed for the year either way.
Might as well pay upfront for a discount and free items. Its just logical.

i’m on the fence if only because i may not actually play wow for all that time and i doubt id use the mounts anyway. Not saying anything about what i think about df, i’m having a ton of fun in prepatch but that doesn’t mean i’ll enjoy playing it for a whole year.

Those large mammals in the ocean. Can capsize medium sized boats if they land on them.

Just think of the GD as a bunch of Chicken Littles running around crying about nothing.

That’s a kraken. Whales are around 300-1000$ a month on a game. Any more than that and you enter kraken territory

When life throws you chicken littles, you make chicken nuggets.

You have to be able to think abstractly maybe to understand that paying in advance for an extended subscription which includes incentives such as discounts with bonus items is better than paying month to month and not receiving discounts and bonus items, and does in fact amount to receiving free items in comparison with the alternative month to month subscription over the same period.
I love the Princess Bride, btw. It’s such a great movie!

World of Whalecraft.
I’m the opposite when it comes to spending on games, pretty frugal.
I simply don’t want to encourage these practices, so I won’t!
The only things I buy are the games themselves.
No pre-orders either. Buy it the day it comes out, maybe the day before if they allow pre-downloads.

Whaling is spending $30,000 on masterduel to get your entire deck in Royla Rare finish.
Or spending $3000 to NP5 you favorite servant in Fate/grand order.
Paying a yearly subscription with a bunch of cool rewards? Thats not whaling.

No we know what a whale is, we all are making fun of the ones who spent thousands on pixel mount’s we are now getting for free. I can’t wait for the swift spectral tiger so we can laugh at the people who whaled out 10 grand to get it recently.

The sub-only promotions are screwing over people like me, who pay for WoW with tokens. We may actually have more game time “pre-paid” than even a 12-month sub (I think I have 13 months, some people have even more), but we get nothing. I have plenty of money but it’s a matter of principle - I haven’t paid with real $$$ for WoW since the tokens were introduced. I hope these mounts will go on the shop separately after the promotion ends.

You mean buy into the psychological tactics that blur the line of legality. These mounts aren’t free; I have to pay 155.88 U.S.D. to get them or 25 U.S.D. sometime in the future when they are added to the in-game store, which one won’t even be there.
The bunny and murloc will. The beetle will not.
