And yet the new trading post has what is, clearly, massive plate armor that’s flagged as cosmetic, meaning you could, in fact, wear it on a mage.
Can we not have double standards, please? Remove the restrictions.

Don’t let your dreams be dreams.
Hey now, don’t point out the obvious issues
Idk I wish they would do more hero sets. Would love an Andy in themed set for my priest both the armored one and that older prince looking one that was from mists I think.
Their reasoning went out the door with the Stormwind Guard Armor in WoD but they still insist on this ridiculous restriction.
The fact tanks can mog completely naked doesn’t ruin immersion but somehow a tank in a dress would?
Yes, their rationale for mog limitations have long since gone out the window.
But since they would require some kind of compromise to ever consider it…the most reasonable one would be to let all classes mog any armor type EXCEPT for class tier sets and tier set lookalike pieces.
I thought of like toy story andy, was very confused on why that would be in wow lmao
I agree they also shouldn’t do things like that.
The novelty of the immersion and definition breaking mogs has kind of worn off. There are too many of them at this point and I agree with you, OP, trading post mogs should be made for and bound to armor types.
They say what they say to shut down requests that cant deliver on.
Is WoW an MMORPG? Depends on the question they were asked.
Not what I meant, I meant that we should lift armor type restrictions. No real point to them anymore.
The forums: “BUT MUH TIER!”
Me: walks around in Mythic DK Nighthold set on Warrior
I … kind of agree. Look, I’ve got a Spartan rig where, as a plate-wearer, I can walk around wearing leather briefs, sandals, a helmet and cloak, and nothing else. None of that looks like plate. (Well, the helmet does, kinda, but still.)
Nowadays, you can run around nearly in your birthday suit, by virtue of hiding everything. It’s the cheapest transmog out there, since hiding is free, but all armor types can do it.
So what’s the point of cosmetic restrictions anymore? I’m having a hard time seeing them.
I’d imagine tier would be class specific, like it is for other classes in the same armor type.
Half of the cosmetic sets heavily code as one armor type or another. “Hide Everything” Transmog options water things down further. Novelty transmog (1h Fish maces, swimsuits, etc.) undermines things. The fact that we’ve seen an “Armor Type Creep” in the sense that half of the sets nowadays just look like plate, regardless of their armor type, and have for a while now undermines restrictions.
Look, I’m fine with restrictions in theory, but the benefit of restrictions is immersion. You can’t let people dress like clowns, effectively abolish mail and leather, make “Plate-looking” cloth shoulders, and give away cosmetic plate transmog (but with the “Cosmetic” Label instead of “Plate” Label) and tell me that immersion still exists in good faith.
No more armor restrictions.
At this point unless it’s a class tier set I should be able to use any piece of tmog for a set no matter the type of gear. We have Tauren rogues or mages as a example so the rules have no meaning
LOL, same here. And in retrospect, I would have no problem with this
