What if i’m creating a build that is worse then what i’m not allowed to follow?
Cause here’s the thing, i did tried to do my own thing in BFA with this guy, and he just sucked. My dps was poo-poo, he wasn’t killing stuff fast enough and i kept dying.
Then i followed some things on Icy veins, read carefully of what i need to do for my rotation and such, and suddenly i was doing better on this guy. Mind you, this is for world content solo, and guides are very unneeded in that area, but i took it anyways cause i wanted to.
There are some situations where learning on my own did benefit me, like my play-style for fire mages where i Scorch + Fire Blast/Phoenix blast and move around like a chicken. And that playstyle of moving about while i gang up on the enemy continues for most of the toons i played. But even then on my mage, i did much better then before by grabbing a couple of tips off of icy veins and such.
If it’s an illusion, then it’s a pretty good illusion cause i’m dying less and doing more damage, if not more, then slightly then before i read the guide. Maybe it has a placebo effect.
I do understand but in my experience most of the people who are like that, the kind that often obsesses over playing the FotM and playing the most meta build while also saying stuff like “Dont invite X class” or “X covenant is bad” (due to community perception that the class/covenant is bad) are usually not that skilled and are pretty ignorant to the point you wonder how the yiff they are not outdpsing an underperforming spec while they are using the most brain dead meta build out there. (And also easymode at times cough cough BM/DHs cough cough)
These people who are bad and toxic to the game are my problem and I am not sure the people who follow meta and understand are anywhere near even a big minority, although I am sure everyone wants to believe they are good, especially meta slaves.
Again it is about the delusion that some people have where they think if they follow they meta build they are “good” players ignoring their personal skill and ability to actually use said meta build.
Plus the fact that they dont need it unless they do the 3 things i mentioned at the start.
At the current trend… 300m from the last movie isn’t all that much and a huge drop from that trainwreck that was the last jedi. Kathleen Kennedy so far has done a really good job of putting the death nail into what was once a very profitable franchise. Remember Disney bought star wars for 4 billion
not the abilities that concerns me, i can always run my own groups if needed. Its the cosmetics and as a belf i am hungry for all the forms of cosmetics (fashion) out there boring covenant or not.
I think the difference here is when I choose to watch Harry potter at home, when I’m bored of Harry Potter I don’t have to drive over to the next county to get a copy of Star Wars when I want to watch that and trade in my copy of Harry Potter. I can keep both and watch them whenever I want. Heck I could watch on Harry Potter movie and then watch a Star Wars movie interchangeably.
Again I am saddened by peoples approaches to this covenants thing on both sides because I agree that Covenant choices should matter but I cannot ignore the outcry from the rest of the community because what people have to say on locking player power is both fair and valid. It’s a precaution to what could happen if things go the wrong way and I can respect that.
So all you are doing here is shouting at the wind. Those type of people aren’t going to change. Even if you convince them they don’t need the meta they will still be just as bad and still be as sure they are good.
Like I said. Ignorance will always be ignorant until they choose not to be. You will not get them to change by telling them they don’t need the meta or by lumping everyone who does follow the meta in with them. And frankly you sitting here just repeating the same diatribe over and over again making assumptions about people you don’t know just makes you as ignorant as they are.
What a lame post, who would argue for not being able to swap covenants? People do more than one type of content in the game and if the covenant you choose is only good for one thing then it takes away from the ability to do other things.
I think personal choice is great but I think some tend to forget that with this being an MMO that sometimes the community has expectations that often drive those choices.
If you raid, do mythic+, or about anything else that requires a group, you learn quickly that the group has expectations. Part of that is often that you have certain abilities, gear, etc and if you don’t, good luck being able to participate in content.
Individual choice sounds great on paper, but individual choice is often an illusion, unless you only play alone.
