XP from mobs in classic is pretty big part of leveling. Just skipping mobs might actually slow you down, or so i’ve heard from smart people.
Depends on if you are in a hurry. Bypassing mobs might be better if the end results gives a better reward.
If you are racing to 60 yeah its true but if you take your time its very helpfull
also losing money on loot. If rogue can fill it with pickpocketing - druid probably should kill everything
If you’re not fatigued, kills=good. If your XP is at 50%, kills=not worth your time.
50%? What?
When you have “rested”, you get 100% from mob kills. When you don’t have it, you are fatigued, and only get 50%. Don’t be fooled by the wording. Old Blizzard mind trick.
I plan to because i’ll alternate between questing and dungeons (mind you, i’m not racing to 60 beyond keeping up with my raid group), so i shouldn’t fall short in XP.
But if you want to be the most efficient, you’re supposed to tag anything on your path while going from quests to quests and drag it along.
This reminds me. Before they canned the whole leveling Lockpicking skill I was just starting it. I’m so going to enjoy a Rogue this turn around. Though I am so torn with a warlock.
think about stranglethorn and tanaris and how fun it will be without stealth
Skipping mobs to solo dungeon chests as a rogue is great. Especially the uldaman chest in front of the enchanting trainer spawn. Infinite source of greens to raise enchanting right at the trainer while getting lock picking and experience gains. Just evasion > blade flurry > adren rush to kill the scorpions. I was farming it at 40 on beta. Same thing for the chests in stockades if you’re alliance. Great way to get ‘free’ bags.
What I found when leveling a rogue is that you can skip mobs to get quest items if it prevents you from losing a bunch of time and silver to dying and repairs.
If you can get in and get out with the quest objective complete…do it.
Otherwise, stealth, pickpocket, kill. Stealth, pickpocket, kill. Repeat this pattern until you’re rich and 60.
It’s about context. It’s a great ability to have if you want to get something done faster than non-stealth classes. Just don’t neglect grinding or you’ll never get to 60.
On a PvP server I will put a ‘wall’ of mobs between me and the clearing.
Gives me a mild shield from non-stealth classes.
Depends on the situation and your personal value of time.
You shouldn’t skip mobs as any class. Only exception would be cases where you’re at risk of getting killed doing it the “normal” way. If it’s just 1 mob at a time? Fight your way through.
Like in barrens that quest for the theramore medals in the “Guns of Northwatch” where you have to pick off those mobs in the southeast. Go ahead and stealth through that, better than carefully shuffling your feet trying not to pull more than 1 mob at a time.
You could level both? I’m planning warlock, warrior, and rogue.
My original rogue would argue otherwise. It’s f*cken great for power leveling via quests. You just need to do more quests, but you have to kill less trash, so it balances out well.
You don’t have the monotony of having to kill 200 mobs to get to the 4 you need for a quest.
There isn’t really enough quests, that’s the problem. Without actual grinding mobs on the way you will find periods where you don’t really have anything you can do to get you to the next quest. Dungeons are a great gap filler, but there’s not really any reason to skip mobs unless they’re dangerous. Even if not for the EXP, the potential gold you can make is huge when it’s all added up.
There’s load of quests, even at the early stage they’re starting Classic in. You need flight paths and multiple locations to quest in is all, which also helps keep variety in your day.
I think horde have something like 155 more quests vs Alliance. Which might not mean much skipping mobs if youre a horde rogue.
