When Blizzard decided that world content only deserved blue gear (I assume that they did this owing to titan residuum), they stripped away the epic achieve at the same time.
The achieve states :
Equip an item of epic quality in every slot with an ilevel of 340 or better.
Before Blizzard turned world content into what it is now, even the base 340 gear that dropped was epic quality. Crafted rings at 340 are epic quality…yet a 365 ring with higher ilevel and stats is blue quality.
Basically, you need to waste mats to craft 340 rings to get the achieve then throw them away to equip the better ilevel gear…which are blues.
I have both rings at over 355 ilevel or better, but as I cant get any purple gear at BASE of 340, the achieve is locked off.
Trinks and rings dont drop off warfronts, leaving to be forced into raids or M plus to get anything better.
This may seem like a small concern, but it makes no sense. Why has all world content gear been downgraded?
I understood your context quite clearly, friend. Did you know past expansion epics also exist? Do you want to downgrade them to blue text to compensate for their being useless now? The color of the text on the gear is irrelevant, this isn’t Vanilla. And if you don’t have the Epic achieve from playing the game normally, and you’re not a brand new subscriber, and you’ve actively played since BFA launch, you honestly don’t even deserve the random +10 achievement points it gives you because you didn’t do anything to earn them, lol.

except for the fact that if they wf/tf they will bump up in quality. I got my epic ach. by having blue wq rings bump up to 340 and 345 and they were epic. still a crappy way to get the ach but it is an option
I don’t see how it is a problem if you can’t get a random achievement from only doing world quests. Was it ever stated that they intended for you to get this achievement by only doing world quests?
my shaman is rocking 2 355 rings from WQ and you know what i thought when i went to get them? “sweet, an upgrade.” i didn’t care it was blue. his 340 purple shield was replaced by a 360 blue shield and again i was like “sweet, an upgrade.”
And the quality of that crafted ring is consistent with the tier in which it was introduced. The blue quality 365 ring was not available in 8.0.
Are you expecting your 340 rings to be boosted because they don’t fit your definition of epic? Or do you want the 365 rings depowered because they’re not epic enough?
Since BC, maybe even late-Classic, item quality (as in, the text color) hasn’t been an indication of an item’s relative level. There have been cases in the past where two items, of the same minimum level and stat allocation, were of two different quality colors.
That said, I do find it a bit unusual that, in terms of Azerite gear, blue-quality is specifically lesser, as it lacks a third passive ring, as well as lacking Residuum when scrapped, both of which would make more sense being tied strictly to ilvl rather than quality.
