This is not really new. It is just bringing the WOW Login Screen inline with the Battle.net App login screen. You’ve been able to login via phone number on the Battle.net App for a while now.

Is SSN only an American thing? Not being sarcastic, I honestly assumed all countries had a form of it.
What’s next, Blizzard Telemarketing calls pretending to be Dell Tech Support telling me my account has been compromised and that they need my SS number a long with other personal information to fix it.
