some will just read the title and go bonkers but for those of you who don’t, just know I am a huge fan of classic, always have been but eventually they will get stale, we can still move forward with cataclysm and keep it true to the CLASSIC theme though and here’s how…
It will need changes, leveling in cataclysm was a lot more fun and engaging for the player, but as true classic lovers we all know what the things were that ruined it for us.
1-Flying everywhere, bring us cataclysm but remove flying in the old world. For the few quests that required you to fly, simply do what you always have and do in northrend for those of us with no flying mount. Add flight masters or quest givers simply warp you over.
2-Give players Gilneas City and a Goblin city both with designated leaders added to the “for the alliance\horde” achievements. Giving players these two cities would undoubtedly inspire a lot of role-play and people to come to classic to visit them. You could probably just build on the goblin city north of Org. Upon completing the quest line and fighting off the forsaken the worgens retake the city, plague be damned.
3-old world is still changed in cataclysm but we truly need to understand that at this point in time people aren’t really using the old world zones much anymore, minus the cities. One of the major problems players had was flying inspired so much tanking because it became so easy and exploiting roofs and otherwise unreachable places because rampant.
4- Don’t add LFG at the start. Let players have a few months of no LFG system and enjoy the classic methods for grouping and running dungeons.
I really just want to see classic thrive, I think cataclysm was an amazing expansion but flying everywhere did change and take away from the old world even with the changes. I think with these changes players can have an entirely different experience with the same material that stays more true to the classic theme.
