You aren't that good

…like how you would be capable of doing as much damage as others of your class spec in a shared covenant?

do you have any original thoughts to add? i’m very confident this opinion wasn’t developed by yourself and was influenced by someone wanting to pay their gas bill so they riled up the internet.

IS SHADOWLANDS FAILING?

SHADOWLANDS IN DANGER

WORST FEATURE IN SHADOWLANDS

Fire mage A picks their best covenant

Fire mage B picks the covenant with the coolest looking gear

Fire mage A has the potential to flat out deal more damage than fire mage B.

Duh. Just like

mage A picks fire mage

mage B picks frost mage

whichever is more powerful at the time, one is better.

As you can see, this behavior is something you accepted when playing the game for all this time.

Except, frost mage vs fire mage has access to the same cosmetics.

They don’t have to choose between cosmetics and power, only power.

No, because you see, one throws fire, while one throws frost.

But that comes down to class fantasy. I’m not arguing about everyone being the exact same.

Also, if one prefers to switch, they have the exact same opportunities for damage as every other person who plays that class. They are not put at a disadvantage someone else who made a different choice.

So if I’m understanding you correctly. You’re saying that it’s wrong in a game that has modes that pushes the player to the limit, but min/maxing is bad. How does that remotely make sense?

Where did I say this? I have never made a statement like this.

Min/maxing is a personal choice.

You’ve been on the forums long enough to know this.

So then by that metric, I have a right to complain about the system because it doesn’t allow me to do that in multiple modes of the game unless a single Covenant is best in both PvE and PvP.

Yeah, imagine it not being fun to play with a variety of abilities to make my class fun. Like it’s almost like more options is a good thing. Being pigeon holed into one choice is the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a while.

Like I don’t go to McDonald’s and complain that there is too much selection and they should only offer cheeseburgers and nothing else. No pop or fries. Just cheesburgers :joy: variety and the ability to chose is a good thing. It’s why people come to north america lol

I looked into this for my DH because I was curious about what the deal was. For my havoc DH, it says Ven is the best choice (I had planned on going Elven vampire anyways).

However, I also feel it should be based on personal choice.

We’re only 4 days into the expac, you really think Bliz isn’t going to make adjustments if they see everyone flocking to one Covenant?

WoW is a fantastic single-player game that is occasionally ruined by other people.

If only the first claim was remotely true. As hunter, the night baes are like 40-50% of my dps in aoe where maldraxus is more like 3%. Seriously, this is a joke, I really like maldraxus set and ambiance but I just can’t justify playing this terrible covenant in any scenario ever.

Oh well… I guess I’m stuck with this horrible druid looking set on my hunter as I don’t want to refarm everything again for another covenant…

I think they are and I think it’s going to rile the players up greatly if they are already going to run into restrictions solely because they wanted to experiment and find the Covenants that best suits them.

I’m just saying for me, this xpac is the first time I’m actually going to be pushing for Glad. Back in Legion I did both Mythic Raiding and pushed Arena each season because I could. And while I lucked out this time with my Covenant being solid for both PvE and PvP, I’m not going to go through the headache of choosing which area of the game I’m going to be suboptimal in and honestly feel like a liability because of it.

This isn’t a personal problem (not saying you said that), this is a design flaw for players who want to perform the best they can in multiple avenues of the game.

A proper RPG should allow your choices to matter, they shouldn’t make the choice for you. Otherwise, the other ‘options’ are meaningless. The RPG should always reinforce personal play style, so the player has fun AND feels useful.

I mean if I’m already bad, why handicap myself further?

Y’all think covenant tiers and optimization per class is going to stay the same and that’s funny. Blizzard’s balancing is going to turn em all on their heads

If you believe this, you have serious analysis issues.

My covenants abilities as hunters are a dot that cause my execute to reset. A crit buff, a huge aoe burst and a wierd shuriken.

No matter you look at this, the way they mechanicly work, the crit or the aoe burst is going to be the best for aoe content, the execute reset the best for raid and the shurikens for pvp which automaticaly forces you out of certain content just because of a choice like this.

It’s already difficult in the pugging world to get invited, now you can only justify your invitations if you have the right covenant…

Mechanics can be changed, it’s how MMO’s are built and definitely how Blizzard does their balancing. Wait it out, some other covenant will be your best pick. Maybe it’ll be the one you want, maybe it won’t.

If there is a most optimal choice then you don’t have to choose.
