I heard that Q&A and the answer they gave us regarding Wrath era was insulting. They do not want to further fragment the player base.
You know what is fragmenting the player base? Forcing Cataclysm on classic players. There are many of us who prefer the old style of the game. Whether your prefer vanilla, TBC, or Wrath, THAT is classic. For those of us who prefer Wrath, forcing us to play a game we don’t want and didn’t ask for or quit is fragmenting the player base.
If you’re not going to listen to us, at least come up with better excuses.
You know what’s fragmenting the playerbase? Classic. Season of mastery. Hardcore. Season of discovery. They had no problem hosting all of these, but when it comes time to preserve crusade and wrath, suddenly fragmentation is an issue. It was also their idea to host an excess of unnecessary realms and not merge them up. In other words, they stupidly created all the fragmentation then punished crusade for it. Now it’s wrath’s turn, which we’ve been warning about since wrath launched. I suspected the day crusade got deleted that wrath would be next when cataclysm came. I told everyone to enjoy wrath while you can. Now its execution has been announced.
Tbf they never said it is not already fragmented, just that they don’t want to fragment it even more.
At least we can agree that there are too many versions of wow currently.
TBC Era & WotLK Era servers with the Classic playerbase’s original character copies made available is absolutely needed for the Classic playerbase.
The love letter to the players.
To play the game as it was then.
Both TBC Era & WotLK Era have arena seasons. The correct way to approach this is to have a rotating 16 week seasons, staggered from each others respective Era by 8 weeks. Allowing those who wish to play both games, to participate in both arena seasons.
To never add the WoW Token.
To never introduce character boosts.
The real Classic playerbase needs to demand TBC & WotLK Era servers with their Classic characters.
It is okay for the Classic playerbase to want to go play CATA, no one is against anyone going to enjoy and play CATA. That is totally cool and if it’s something you want to do, you should be allowed to do so.
It is also okay for the Classic playerbase to want to stay on respective Era realms of TBC or WotLK. It is okay for players to not wish to continue and move forward onto other expansions. Just as Vanilla Classic players are currently playing Classic Era realms.
There is no divide between the playerbase themselves. The playerbase who wants WotLK and TBC Era realms, have no problem with those who wish to continue to CATA to play it. So strange for those who do wish to continue to CATA to be against Era realms for TBC and WotLK; in nearly every thread read here the past week. Makes absolutely no sense.
Open your eyes and don’t be blind. Can’t you see, we’re two of a kind.
They know that not everyone likes Retail. Classic brought back a lot of subs.
They know that not everyone wants Cataclysm, so they brought in Classic+.
There is no money in Eras though. Zero. Not even extra subs.
Even if only 200,000 people bought newest $80 Cata bundle, that’s $16,000,000 in raw digital sales. Classic+ will maybe make them zero.
HC has no longevity. It’s a small side projects for them.
So… Blizzard gives everyone a chance to play classic “Free” as long as you’re paying for or have subbed for the current version. There’s nothing stopping you from leaving and others from leaving this Free version of warcraft, yet everyone is complaining. You can’t please everyone. So Blizzard is going to please themselves. maybe Blizzard should start charging play classic this way it will eliminate all the complainers instead of leaving these servers wide open for complaints. Select your classic realm or go back to DF.
BTW, there’s nothing being forced on anyone… Cata is part of the history of Warcraft and you can not progress forward without it. Either accept it or move on.
I don’t really have problems with wrath era servers existing. I have no interest in playing them but if other people do fine, but the idea of fragmenting the playerbase more does seem valid to me as well. And that’s what they said I believe, that they didn’t want to fragment it more. In my opinion we probably have too many versions of classic already, but if they start adding specific servers for every expansion then it starts getting a bit ridiculous. People want tbc era, wrath era, some people (believe it or not) will probably want cata era. I think we have enough as it is. Basically I can understand both sides.
But sorry for those who really want wrath era that they won’t get to stay there.
If Blizzard establishes both Wrath and Cata servers, only those interested in Cata will move forward. If they have only Cata servers, those interested in Cata will, again, be the only ones moving forward.
They should have servers for classic, burning crusade, wrath, cata, mista, warlords, legion, bfa, sl, df, tww, midnight and the last titan. Let the players choose which expansion they like to play.
And also, don’t make us pay for Cataclysm a second time, that’s a blatant money grab move.
No one really cares if you get era servers. I’m not against it. But don’t you see how unrealistic this is? Blizzard isn’t a non profit. It exists to make money. You want blizzard to give you two games, in addition to all the other versions, all for one sub with no other ways for them to monetize the game with things like boosts or tokens.
Blizzard isn’t giving us cata. It’s re-releasing it because they think it will make money, with subs, tokens, boosts, the deluxe pac etc. Of course it’s cool to want things. I’d like to see blizzard start all over with rdf and dual spec in vanilla and no JJ or xp boosts or nerfs of any kind. I just don’t expect them to do it because it probably won’t make money.
I think SoD is just an experiment. A lot of people are asking for classic +. This is a tiny little taste of classic + to see if there’s any real interest. If it’s a big success they might make a real classic +. If it fails any chance for a classic + fails with it.
