I would like to thank the OP for making this thread. There are some great ideas here and the fact that people are providing solutions instead of complaints is a great idea. I wish I had time to respond with my ideas but I think that alot of them have been covered already. One thing is that they actually need to converse (with) their player base. Not converse (to or at) their player base. It takes two to have a conversation.

This is me being greedy but I would launch a 3rd wow so you would have classic, reatial, and enhanced, the enhanced edition would be levels 1-60 vanilla mechanics, but EVERYTHING would have the either the current HD graphics or heroes of the storm graphics undecided on that. And would have all content, so you level threw vanilla 1-60 but to progress threw BC wrath legion ect is a gear progression, not necessarily stat wise but for example legion gear would drop fel resistance and higher endgame content drops higher resistance so there is still a need for progression, and this helps balance pvp cause eventually levels and stats stop.

Also I would add all the stuff I said in a previous post about warcraft infinite twilight.

Your idea wouldn’t be too far off from mine outside of it being just vanilla.

First, I would start by doing to WoW as Sega is about to do with Phantasy Star Online 2; their “New Genesis” is another “version” of the game running alongside the original but running off a modern engine with updated graphics, improved/better in-game systems, and more detailed customization. WoW having a new engine alone would open the doors to new game mechanics across the board. Players can still co-op in the world between the two versions and there wouldn’t be any noticeable difference. This way the older version would be untouched for people who prefer it or are running older systems.

Second, I’d actually provide content or systems for all the roleplayers out there, (or at least use these to give RP servers an identity):

  • Customizable housing
  • Relationship/marriage system
  • Make the functionality of RP addons core to the game
  • A world-pvp bounty hunter system
  • Couple the previous with a judge/jury/jail system somewhere along the lines of what ArcheAge had

Everything else people have mentioned here I’d do as well.

Dunno what the title or premise would be, but some bullet points:

  • Reset the timeline to just after WCIII
  • Remake Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor from scratch using modern techniques (real climbable mountains!)
  • Lean hard into the persistent world portion of the game
  • Make both continents approx. twice current size
  • Add areas to each zone for player housing
  • Make professions much more robust, with many more ways to deeply engage with world
  • Shift dungeons and raids from being a cherry on top rather than a focal point
  • Shift PvP in the direction of large scale battles (no arenas)
  • Write large numbers of quests that are spec, class, race, and faction specific so each playthrough is fresh
  • Publicly release the WoW map editor and quest tools and add a custom map mode to WoW
  • Allow custom map authors to compete to have their work included in the game proper twice per year

Some of the best content any game has when possible is player-made stuff. Definitely making it possible for players to design levels and content which then can make it into the game is a terrific idea (City of Heroes does this).

Also having a lot more RP elements and options would be nice. SOTOR is amazing at role playing elements, that’s something designers could study. Just having a system by which you advance and gain things based on role playing and which are role-playing oriented would be a wonderful addition to the game.

This is the best idea I have read on here. We would still have Azeroth to adventure thru but then have a whole new place to live and adventure and grow in and then used as a new base and stepping stone for future adventuring.

I agree, that sounds like a fantastic expansion.

We’re gonna do another faction war but this time we’re gonna do it right! That means showing both sides as Morally gray and able to make mistakes.

The thing that starts it all off is the Horde attacking Stormwind and killing only the civilians! And then…Well I haven’t thought that far ahead but I just know I’ll stick the landing. It’s gonna be full of drama and nuance!

Oh and I know Baine gets a bad rap sometimes so in order to endear him to the players he will be literally shackled to them while the alliance players have to rescue him in the new EPIC battleground! Return to Ashran!

Oh, one more thing: I get rid of the daze mechanic, completely

would soften up the reward system a ton so players are always having a good time regardless of whether they can ‘fnish’ in two months

would make alts have tons of shortcuts to motivate more playing time through accessibility that avoids burnout

Shutdown all the wow servers, and put it out of it’s misery. And call the next expansion Go find another game to get addicted to :laughing:

Simplify the game again & encourage devs to communicate with players. Be open and honest about the game.

This thread is a shining example why Blizzard doesn’t ask the players for suggestions.

Not possible for any single person to nail this. I could make a perfect game for me and maybe a small fraction of the players but a vast majority would not like what I like and vice versa. That is why it is so hard for the devs to ‘get it right’. Getting it right for some means getting it wrong for others.

First thing I’d do is return all RPG elements and expand customization options tenfold. Raid tiers would certainly be cost under my tenure, and esports would cease existing as a thing in this game.

A chance for a weapon drop is now available from every single boss in Castle Nathria, as well as future raid encounters in Shadowlands.

Grand Vault no longer provides duplicate loot, and will only reward you with something you don’t already have.

Mythic Dungeons no longer reward loot that is higher than Heroic Raiding.

PvP items can be upgraded to Heroic Raiding levels.

Torghast now remembers your floor and layer and anima powers you had if you are disconnected or the servers go offline and will remember it until you complete it, die, or the weekly reset.

Sylvanas is finally destroyed, once and for all.

Nobody reads these posts, but… Here’s my 10…

1- Remove Mythic+. IF I have the authority to do so, replace the members of the Diablo 3 team who came to WoW that forced Mythic+ into the game as they do not share the same ideals that I do regarding WoW.

2- Reintroduce WoTLK era gear paths. 10mans give less reward than 25man. 10>25>10h>25h. Token system reintroduced.

3- Reintroduce the separation of PvE and PvP gear via addition of Resilience to PvP gear. Complete PvP overhaul.

4- Remove all variations of gearscore, raiderio, etc. Specifically code the API to not allow any variation of it to exist again in the future for any reason.

5- Reintroduce timed Challenge mode Dungeons with cosmetic rewards only.

6- Set the game up in a manner that removes “treadmill power” through expansions permanently. No more permanent Renown grinds, Azerite grinds, Artifact Power grinds, etc.

7- Disallow boosting services entirely, and place significantly higher emphasis on “report advertisement” in LFG tool. Higher threshold requirement for trade chat, LFG chat, and making LFG posts to dissuade these communities. Accounts reported for boosting are treated the same as accounts utilizing third party programs for advancement; bans.

8- Significantly less Horde-based story telling/lore.

9- Actually provide the customization options promised but failed to deliver.

10- Invest tremendously more resources into detecting, identifying, and banning bots. If you bot, even a single time… You are hardware banned on the spot. No appeals. No sob stories. You cheated willingly, you are gone.
