Until my Renown is 43? lmao. How did not know this before? So in order to be remotely viable in PvP, I have to go do a ton of PvE to get higher than 190 ilvl blue honor gear, in order to farm some renown, which I can only do so much per week, THEN I can upgrade it some more. Who knows if I’ll be gatekept by more renown after the Rank 4/7 Honor gear upgrades. So basically - I have to choose between getting continually pummeled in PVP, or try to find ways to further up my renown (currently at 27 - GG) doing PvE, so I can then go back to the gameplay I actually wanted to do - to finally start to be able to get enough honor to actually do the upgrades anyway. LOGICAL SYSTEM IS LOGICAL.

people who have 5 hours a day to level renown, do maw stuff, do korthia stuff and play the cookie cutter “meta” classes so they get rated invites don’t agree.
ive played this game under max level without any urge to play the rated pvp content and have a blast. mostly because i can build a toon i like with the spec/stats i want and still have fun without hours of grinding.

Yes! But you also need to do some Torghast to get your legendary since there isn’t a way to get soul ash from PvP. Also the best legendary for the mage is the Triune Ward, so you will need to do some M+ for that to be competitive in PvP. Oh and once you upgrade your PvP gear you’re also going to want to upgrade that legendary of yours, so you’ll need to go back to Torghast for more soul ash. Oh and to get the max upgrade for your Honor gear you also need to be 59 renown, so keep doing those dailies.
So I hope you don’t have only a couple of hours to play each day, if so then you may be able to PvP by Christmas.

Alternatively, in great pay to win fashion, you can just buy some blue 230 gear off the AH. Currently, on my realm, they are 25k per piece.

I did that but you can only have 1 piece equipped so, I also bought a couple other BoE’s so I did manage to jump up a bit, but… it’s just so disheartening that I get crushed in PvP because I can’t get past a certain level without engaging in other content I don’t want to do. And even then - it takes SO long to get honor and rank these pieces up.

Yeah, it only shows as Unique-Equipped AFTER you buy it. 
in panda times we could wear 3 pieces of the crafted stuffs.
I know you wanted to gear up through honor gear but it may honestly be easier to do mythic 0 for 210 or Korthia for…200-220.
I get that it’s pve instead of pvp but it’s probably faster than trying to upgrade honor gear.

Same. Got hard stuck at 203 because of renown. This is what makes me so angry with the game. I’m just trying to do some pvp on an alt man. I’m not interested in the pve grind again.

The issue is the RNG on getting Korthia and Mythic gear with Vers on it. So between Korthia and PvP honor, it can sometimes be better to suffer through humiliating defeat after defeat just to get that Honor gear. You can get around 1500 honor per hour by doing Epics, even while losing.
Yeah the only problem with this part is that it takes 20-30 mins to find an Epic BG to even lose in.

once you hit 60 find anyone level 51-59 and partysync. nobody gears up alts in that bracket as they level so the template you get feels pretty strong.

Renown is so easy that there’s just no excuse not to have it maxed.
I don’t think the issue is that it’s difficult to max out, but that it’s so unnecessary and has no reason to be tied to PvP gear. I do not have Renown maxed out on my toons. I think the highest I have is 52? So it’s close. But there’s no need because on that toon I’ve already started collecting conquest gear.

Does your current gear still affect your own power level if you party sync into lower brackets? In other words wouldn’t a 226 ilevel player still be stronger than a ilevel 200 player in that bracket?
Also, does the level 60 honor gear still scale up in those low level party synced bgs?
Just run yolo rbgs - there is almost zero reason to do anything else. Maybe you get 1400, but you’ll float in conquest and can skip a lot of the honor grind (but finish your campaign first so you’re at least 198il).

no. a level 60 player with a 158 ilvl will get the same template as a 60 in top pvp/pve gear as far as i can tell. all trinket and essence effects are turned off so no vers bonus BUT, and alot of 60’s who sync don’t take advantage of this, all the boa trinkes/neck with an on use heal etc DO work while syncd. covenants are enabled but essences aren’t. its the most balanced bracket in the game in my opinion(51-59).
