Healers are not useless! I am looking forward to be a healer in WARTHIN!!!
What happen? Abu news about healers?
I think that you are right. Part of that will be from the massive talent tree where some might skip defensives or interrupts to max out their dps output. All of that “tunnel vision” stuff and meters live on their screens, competing with each other while the fight is happening. And they laugh and say, “What interrupt?” because they can skip it and not be … liable?
I get where you’re coming from, and I’m sure that does happen, but that isn’t what I’m talking about.
What I’m talking about is the gross imbalance of defensives available. Ret and windwalker both have four defensive cooldowns available to them. Enhancement shaman (and elemental to be fair, but I’m comparing melee) have one defensive cooldown.
You might then argue that enhancement can heal themselves, but ret and WW can both heal themselves, too.
The problem is that WoW players who play endgame content are playing two completely different games.
There are those that do m0-19 or heroic raiding. Here the DPS and even the tank will fail almost every mechanic imaginable, leading to massive stress on the healer.
Whereas 20+ keys or Mythic raiding everyone is better and everyone has the addons screaming at them so they know what to dodge / interrupt and when to use defensive CDs.
Another problem, is that historically healing was the ´´noob´´ role. This was a good way to get ppl to play healers, since all they had to do was show up. Even during Legion and esepcially BFA, you could just outpower a lot of content. All the passive healing effects would do the job for u as long as u pressed ur buttons.
Now with all the added complexity of talent trees however, healing easily becomes the absolute most demanding spec in the game if you play with bad players.
I completely stopped healing m+ the last two seasons after getting KSM every season for the last couple of expansions and I have to say that I don’t regret my decision at all.
Could I have gotten the last two seasons of KSM if I really wanted to? Absolutely. I have teammates and friends who get Keystone Hero every season who would gladly have me heal, but I don’t enjoy it anymore. This is first and foremost a game, why play content that you don’t enjoy?
So yeah, I’ll stick to my very casual mythic raid group of friends that I’ve been playing with since Warlords. My healing isn’t suffering because I don’t run m+ and I’m enjoying myself when I play. Win/win.
The healing nerfs go in hand with the damage nerfs.
I suspect this is to scale back how powerful healers are, and rein in the scaling of M+. However…
This doesn’t really impact tanks being able to survive such crazy things on their own, since their sustain is still quite high.
Healers should become cooldown bots with better DPS rotations. Then other players will have to learn mechanics because that almighty S+ heal is on a minute long cooldown.
They need to seriously nerf tanks.
I’d rather not.
I enjoy healing.
