Yo Blizz... Get over it?

Hello all.

So, as far as the Night Elves genocide is concerned, here’s a small checklist.

    • “Get over it,”
    • Because, “Tyrande got her revenge.”

=

I’ll get over your poor treatment of any race like this when you get over your poor handling of the following races, with reasons listed!

    • Forsaken, no real story development, ever, just Sylvanas
    • Gnomes, why are they in the game and ignored?
    • Night Elves, when someone gets “development,” they get the shaft
    • Draenei, I think if done right the Draenei race having the Lightforged and the redeemed Manaari have to become one race again could be FUN!
    • Goblins, they’re virtually in the same …
    • Wait, why am I wasting my time?
  • TL:DR: ANY Race besides Orcs and Humans gets the story shaft whenever they get the story focus.

Blizzard, please fix yourselves! Your perception of story quality is all askew!
I can’t play a game that’s no fun when your concept of quality with the story is so far off that you think one Valkyr is worth thousands, if not tens of thousands, of innocent civilian lives!

People play a race for the lore. The lore of every race outside of Humans and Orcs has been dropped since Wrath, and there were signs of it starting up as Cataclysm started in the Alpha stages.

Why can’t we have nice things?
Because Blizzard says we can’t.
Why?
Because Blizzard doesn’t act like they care.

Blizzard, want to prove you care?

Show!

It!

Edit: New to the new forums. Sigh…

Blizzard doesn’t care, there’s been well redacted, thought out and researched forum posts before stating what is wrong, what players would like to see and how to improve it and they don’t care, don’t listen, their philosophy is “don’t like it unsub.” They aren’t here to write a story people enjoy, they are here to write their fanfiction and have us be the errand boy.

True.

However, once the game becomes a money sink with no profits to show for it, the constant change to make change but not improvements to said game is getting noticed.

The problem is Blizzard, always has been, always will be, UNTIL, they decide that they have room to improve.

There’s so much wonderful potential with this game, and where it once was it can return to, so much better than ever! But they just won’t see it yet.

If they kill this game, and they’re swiftly doing so, they are the only ones to truly blame. I would not be surprised at all if they try to blame their players, though.

The burning of a strategic military target is not necessarily genocide.

Night elves arguably, sabotaging blood evles (arcane sanctums) after the scourge invasions is arguable more genocidal than burning a city in wartime.

One is more systematic, the other is not.

In actuality though, I dont think blizzard ever intended for the playerbase to take the burning of telsrassil as a genocidal act.

Trust me the horde feels the same way, like blood elves are supposed to just forget about jainas kittle purge of dalaran? Or the little raid on the troll city this xpack too?

burning a civilian target full of civilians and depopulating them to a huge extent is genocide.

no it wasn’t

yes, because more belves died choking on mana biscuits than Jaina killed in Dalaran…

it’s explicitly stated in the story as an act of genocide lol

The World Tree was more than a city. It was an entire land, home to countless innocents. How many night elves were elsewhere in Azeroth? Far too few. Now, they were all who remained of their people. Sylvanas Windrunner had committed genocide.
Elegy, page 88. Put this ‘muh belves in dalaran + taurajo’ rubbish to rest please.

I respect all your points! very well said.

But I wouldn’t call Sylvanas’ character developing. if anything, she’s getting butchered for cheap entertainment.

Don’t get me wrong, Sylvanas was always the one who works in the shadows, always does questionable things, but she was never the mustache twirling evil. She used to be cunning, make dreadlords kill each other, outsmart arrogant human commanders, ambush Arthas.

but what do we have now? Send 2 leveling noobs to take down two war heros.

What? Like… infinity Night Elves? Do azerothians not count past 100,000?

Arshia, just accept that its just a story, maybe not one you like, but you are paying to play along, if you don’t like it, which is your choice really, then stop playing for a while.

Throwing the word ‘genocide’ in a computer game is really getting annoying, no one, I’m talking real casualties, really died, genocide is the Killing Fields of Cambodia, there is real tragedy…I don’t understand why people are taking a fictional story so darn seriously.

If you don’t like the story being told, do the same thing you would do in a really bad movie, leave the theater.

I mean Tyrande got her black eyes thing and pretty much won Darkshore back, I think that’s how it goes. What do you want, attack orgrimmar? They already said the Alliance is stretched too thin and doesn’t much soldiers remaing in the cinematic.

Forsaken got some story in the book before the storm.
Gnomes always were a meme like Goblins. But again they got some story in that book.

Night elves got all the Darkshore thing, that’s a lot. IF you don’t like it that’s another thing.
Draenei, well pretty much had their time in Argus. That was their end game to go back there and they did. There’s not even a sign of the Horde on Argus mostly.

no argument there. Even a wiff of resembling the Garrosh story arc is lazy and bad writing. but so is making the Forsaken act like the Scourge 2.0 just because they are angry and vengeful. At least the original Scourge had some framework of purpose beyond ‘because we can’.

Actually, neither is a good sign of skilled storytelling right now.

The NE’s got the shaft. Story wise.
The BE’s got the shaft. Story wise.
There are times when consistency is not a good thing.
This is one of them.

instead of wasting time, effort and lives on Zuldazar yes. And we have a bloody spaceship that does nothing apparently Lol. Horde’s forces are concentrated there, their home cities should’ve been sacked and burned one by one. Then Rastakhan can be like ‘all you horde refugees get out’ and make better conflict than ‘team saurfang/team sylvanas’.

Not really ignored, often the situation for a story in this world is how it can be related to it-- unfortunately there’s a sense of isolation because they act like it’s a new world for the gnomes and then it’s dropped.

Maybe if Blizzard were better a stating the NE’s got Darkshore back it wouldn’t lead to such posts? The problem is, “Tyrande got her revenge,” is easy to take out of context. “Tyrande got revenge and retook Darkshore, securing a new home for the Night Elves to rebuild their people and society,” THAT, would help.

I don’t know what angle you’re getting at here? The story says its genocide. If that triggers you or makes you think it’s got some relation to the real world, that’s your problem, not mine. I’m simply stating the story as it was presented, word for word.

Technology in Wow is way more fragile than you think. The first thing you see on Argus is a lightforged ship that got shot down with Xe’ra in it. The talk that the Vindicaar is an all powerful ship is just propaganda. All it can do is fire a small beam of light that can pierce doors at best. If the Vindicar would come anywhere near from Orgrimmar it would get shot down if there was no other support to help defend it.

Thats anduins point of view. Dosent mean he is necessarily right.

All in all the story has just been a little wack all along.

Both sides just have to forget the atrocities committed against them and team up to work together, yet again…

Thrall should have made Sassy the goblin leader ;-;
